Brian Barden

Is it just me, or is Barden just hitting his stride?

Star-divide

Brian Barden is finally getting his chance in the bigs.  He has been an absolute terror in the first 10 games of the season.  Today, he's playing SS and has his 3rd HR of the year off Big Z.  What's everyone's thoughts on Barden?  Is he this year's Ludwick?  Or will he just fizzle out as the year wears on?

i was talking this guy up

three years ago to the folks in my league. i just don’t get how guys that hit like he did in the minors don’t get chances. i know…some can’t hit a breaking pitch, they have no defensive position…etc, etc. and some, like kouzmanoff, really don’t end up translating their success. but why not give the guy a chance? he can hit a baseball.

on the flip side, guys like brandon wood can crush a ball, but they can’t seem to consistently put their bat on it. granted, he’s not really gotten a job yet, but so much hype for his sort, and so little for the guys that don’t pound out 100 xb hits a season.

i know this community is a different, for the most part. i’m more aggravated by the general baseball “fan”.

i like barden to succeed if they keep playing him, but glaus will return and that will be the end of it.

Hmm....

I gotta tell you, I think Brandon Wood is seriously underrated at this point. Super post hype sleeper.

On Barden… no clue why he never got his chance. Strange though… when do you see a guy repeat AAA SIX times, do really well his first time and get progressively worse with each year, all while shifting UP the defensive spectrum?

Im pretty lukewarm on him, though. Some of his production was ballpark and league and he doesnt do anything all that well. He’s a pretty marginal big leaguer from what I can tell at a quick glance, but Ive never really looked at the guy in depth.
