Dexter Fowler vs. Travis Snider
I'm trying to decided who to add to my fantasy teams bench and I've decided I'll go with one of these two. Maybe one will go on to hit .290 with 15-20 HRs and really help me so that is why its between these two.
Which of the two would you pick up?
Fowler's speed and patience has me leaning towards him but I know a lot of people are higher on Snider for this year.

This year?
Snider, and it’s by quite a bit. His power is already playing, and while he’ll hurt you in K’s and AVG… hell of a stick. As a bench guy, he should be ok.

Even taking steals into account?
Fowler has already showed a bit of power in the thin air, and he’ll probably steal a bunch. Snider won’t get you any steals either. Only problem is that he isn’t playing full time, and probably won’t get 500 at-bats unless he plays so well that they can’t take him out of the lineup.

Fowler...
I picked him up in a league or two with my last pick. I knew he was going to split time for the start of the season, but I really think that the Rockies are going to make a move to clear up some at-bats, or that Spilborghs or Smith become more of the 4th OF again. I think, unless Fowler struggles and he is playing well so far, that he will be a fulltime starter by the AS Break, with Hawpe as one corner OF and either Smith or Spilborghs as the other corner OF.
I would take Fowler over Snider right now though. I think he has a better possibility of filling up all five hitting categories in the 5×5.

Yeah
I see Spilly moving to LF and Smith to the bench by mid-season.

I don't completely trust Fowler's power
Yet. Yet is, of course, the operative word. In the future, Fowler will be a better option, but I just don’t see it now. Unless, of course, you’re looking for steals, in which case go for it. Course, I always draft steals heavy (bad habit), so I like the juice.

Easy Choice - Snider
Fowler is a better real life player than fantasy player. He might steal 25 bases for you, hit 10 HRs and put up some lackluster counting stats overall due to playing time issues (until Spily gets shipped out). Fowler is a good fantasy player, not a great one. His D in CF makes him a great overall player though.
As for Snider, that bat is special. His value lies solely with the bat, and he may very well be Toronto’s best hitter by the end of 2009.

Snider
I am a blue jays fan so i am obviously biased, but Snider is legit. That second bomb he hit today was a line drive to the second deck, probably the hardest ball I’ve seen anyone hit since Carlos Delgado left town. He has his bad at-bats here and there but he has shown constant adjustment and one thing for sure is that his power has arrived already. 25+ HR is not out of the question.

Snider
I think he is more polished at this point than Fowler. I think in two years or so it will be closer if Fowler continues on this path. Snider will be more of a 35hr guy in as soon as two years and Fowler will be 15hr 25sb with a good average.

Snider
I mean in a one year league its obvious that Snider is a better pick
Overall it’s a crapshoot. Both are legitimate young talents with easy all-star capability, and it’d be great to have BOTH

Fowler 5 Tool Player
Snider might mash, but he’ be a DH . Fowler can run, field and hit. By the end of the Year he will be full time in the field.
