Around SBN: Kobe Bryant Isn't Up To Speed On Jeremy Lin, 'Linning'

Antonelli / Kulbacki

Where are these guys playing this year?  Why haven't they played as of yet?  I'm guessing Antonelli is going to Portland for the 2nd year in a row, but haven't seen his name in a boxscore yet.

Kulbacki I think would start at AA but haven't seen his name yet either.  I've always liked what he could bring to the table and with Giles getting on in years thought maybe he could see time in the OF for the Padres later this season.

Thanks.

Kulbacki/Antonelli

Kulbacki is slated to start the year in AA, but he’s on the DL right now as he recovers from shoulder surgery. (http://www3.signonsandiego.com/weblogs/minor-league/2009/apr/07/prospects-move-san-antonio/) Expect to see him in a month or so.

As for Antonelli, it looks like he was officially optioned to AAA – I can’t find anything to explain why he hasn’t played or why he isn’t listed on Portland’s roster.

Found this in a BA Chat

Q: James from Whiteman Air Force Base, MO asks:
Is Matt Antonelli starting in Portland this year? I can’t find him on the roster anywhere. Do you think he can bounce back from his off season last year? He looked decent this spring but we all know spring numbers don’t mean much.
 A:

Matt Eddy: As the official BA Antonelli apologist, I say yes he can bounce back. His fine batting eye remains intact, now it’s just a matter of focusing on staying with his game and not trying to muscle everything. Like Latos, he’s slated to begin the year on the DL.

Any idea what is wrong with Antonelli?
