going to be hurting...

in the saves column. trade zimmerman for a closer and you can fill his spot by shifting around the team when weiters gets called up

I agree about the Saves category, but I would be more apt to trade Sanchez (who I love and have myself) or Cueto (bad home park). Sanchez will get you a ton of K’s, but I worry about his increased workload last year causing an injury this year.

OF

Is pretty weak for a 10 team league, I think I would have tried to nab Carlos Quentin/Beltran if either were available in the 2nd round instead of Longoria. Or grab any of Markakis, Kemp, Rios, Bay on the way back in the 3rd.

I like Cabrera, Ianetta, and Hart. Longoria seems overvalued to me, and I think I would rather have had any of Fielder, Agon, Morneau, Berkman as a 1b and left Cabrera at 3B. Or settled for the cheaper younger guys like Votto, Davis, or Loney. and nabbed a top tier OF 2nd round.

As for pitching… Seems to lack proven track records with only Halladay a sure thing for 200 innings. The rest for the most part have injury histories. Also not quite sure how you only have 1 closer in a 10 team league (also that 1 being a shaky 1). I assume there are a few out there still since this is a H2H league.

All and all, I think you could have done better, however if this is a keeper league, Id say you have some pretty exciting keepers in Weiters, Upton, Bruce, and all those young pitchers.

mmm

i’m not used to shallow leagues, so i could be wrong.
saves doesn’t matter since there’s so many categories. i would either trade for another close or trade away motte.

i think your team looks strong for a 14 team league, decent for a 12 team, but below avg for 10 team. it’s got a lot of promise, but you’re gambling too much on potential. i can see you being a frontrunner in 2yrs if you can keep most of your team intact.

your hitting has a big glaring weakness at ss and util. alvives is a bench player in this type of league, he was very lucky last yr and its unlikely he’ll replicate anything close to his 08 success. lowrie isn’t a bad hitter, but as a util hitter you need better numbers than that. if you shift him to ss, you have a below avg hitter.

pitching-wise you’re taking a huge gamble. the only sure pitcher you have is halladay. you have above avg injury risks in your next 3 best starters- liriano, nolasco and gallardo. you’d need all 3 to be healthy if you want to make the playoffs. granted they have high upside, but i’d consider trading one or two of them (including cuento) for some more “safer” pitchers such as lowe, cain, vazquez, haren, etc…

in short, you have a lot of high reward types with a bit too much risk for contending. i wouldn’t be surprised if you came up among the top 3 in your league, but then i wouldn’t be surpsied if you ended up in the cellar. i’d try and trade some of your players for more safer production types to balance out your team a bit more. you might have a tremendous team in 2011/12 onwards, but does that really matter now? most dynasty leagues last only a year or two.

your middle infield's slightly weak

Aviles will regress, Brandon Phillips is a little bit overrated, and Jed Lowrie doesn’t look like a world beater. You do have a pretty decent surplus of third basemen, with Longoria, Zimmerman, and Gordon. I think you could trade Zimmerman for a good SS, and you’ll still have Longoria and the possibility of a Gordon breakout. I wouldn’t worry much about not having a closer this early. Closers always emerge, and worse comes to worse, when Wieters comes up you can go ahead and trade Ianetta for one.
Also, watch out for the fact that K’s are one of your offensive stats. You got a bunch of high k guys who wont offset that by walking (Bruce, Young, Upton, and Milledge). Trade one of those huge upside guys for someone who may be a safer, low K, bet.
Good luck

re: pretty good team for a 10-team league

nice balance of speed, but your power may be a little lacking.

As your only legit power hitter is Miggy; the others are probably 25 HR tops.

you lack closers, but can always acquire some in trades.

otherwise good picks.

1 legit .300 hitter

your batting avg will suffer

the Complete Games category is ridiculous nowadays. How many complete games are pitched to make that worth a category?

+1

I will never understand why people complicate their H2H leagues with this stuff. Its more or less random on a weekly basis. First one to a CG wins. Predicting baseball performance is hard enough without adding in 18 bulls*** categories. Keep it simple.
