PS3 Gamers- which game for 2009?
I bought The Show 2009 yesterday and spent all night playing it. So far I'm nejoying it. It hasn't changed much from last year, just cleaned up a little. I like the additions of the 40 man roster and all the challenges that brings. I also like the new features on player editing
Anyone play MLB 09 yet? Last year's game was terrible IMO so my expectations are low for this year too.
Anyone have any thoughts on the games?

The Show
I’m a BIG fan of MLB The Show but mostly because I spend my time doing “Road to the Show”, bringing up my little midfielder up to play with the Mets. That’s the gamebreaker, as far as I’m concerned, that makes it the best baseball game currently made (MVP 2005 fans, note the caveat).

its amazing how many people are still in love with MVP 05...
I figured for awhile that me and my friends were the only ones…

MVP
I still play MVP05 regularly. The only baseball game I’ve even tried since then is MVP 2006 (college) and I didn’t particularly care for it. The game was alright I suppose and probably would’ve been pretty good if I gave it more time, but the music was so painful.

Stadiums
Have you seen all the crazy custom stadiums people have done for MVP 05? I mean, honestly, it was last good baseball game for PC. I think that’s why it’s had so much staying power.

True
But it’s a shame that the game is a pile of garbage.

I have it and love it.

Agreed
I have a 360 so I’m limited to 2K, and was awfully disappointed in 2k9. Its not all that impressive visually, its definitely re-done from the last few years. But they took all the interesting things they tried to do with the gameplay in the recent games and watered them down. To be fair, it was a bit much in 2k8, and they needed to pull a few things back, but it just seems like they did the lazy thing and took a few of the interesting dynamics away, without making the game feel anything more like a realistic sim. I was also very disheartened when I learned Steve Philips was the new color commentator, but really, its a pretty lateral move from Joe Morgan (I think I heard him call Oliver Perez Odalis a few times in 2k8).

The Show
In both 08 and 09, the announcer gets the Carlos’ confused a lot (Delgado and Beltran).

PS2?
How much better is The Show 09 than The Show 08?
Mostly concerned about RTTS mode, mostly what I play. Don’t do too many franchises, and I usually end up creating a roster of minor leaguers or my friends, so hardly matters

If you just play RTTS, it's probably not worth it.
It’s way better as a game, but if that’s all you’re concerned with last year’s should be fine.

How so?
I play on the other modes, not online. And this is on the PS2 correct? What are the improvements from last years model? Any RTTS improvements?

RTTS
You can now be drafted- which isn’t much but its kind of cool - CF for the Astros lol
They stop you and offer you training sessions in baserunning and hitting which is sick. Idk if pitchers have it
Remember: baseball guys... baseball...

The Show 09
Anyone played it online yet? I’ve only played offline so far. I hear the online gameplay lag hasn’t been fixed.
