Quick help! My picks here!

So I never thought Id have the option, but here is who was drafted in our one round draft so far

1. Strasburg (me)

2. G. Beckham (me)

3. Hanson

4. Bumgarner (me)

5. Cahill

6. Posey

7. Alonso

8. Stanton

9. Lawrie

10. Andrus

So at pick 11, I never thought Id have this choice, but I can take:

Eric Hosmer
Neftali Feliz
Carlos Santana
Logan Morrison
Tim Beckham
Brett Anderson

I have a TON of young pitchers or Feliz is the easy pick here.  Is he good enough to take anyway?  Also, what do you guys think about the differences between Morrison, Santana, Hosmer, Beckham.  Also I have pick 14 so another of these guys will be there as well.

Take Santana.

But you can’t go wrong with Hosmer, too.

Feliz

And don’t look back.

I would say Hosmer but you can probably get Morrison @ 14 and the difference between Hosmer and Morrison isnt that much.

i know, im leaning towards tim beckha, something i never thought id say.

I'd say

Grab Feliz/Anderson with Pick 11, then grab Santana with the 14th. Worst case scenario, you end up with Morrison (not a bad worst case)

but i know feliz will be gone by 14, yet if i take him then i get one of beckham/santana/hosmer/morrison at 14

i do have long term needs at 1b and c, but my SS is alexei ramirez and he could be a full time outfielder next year

by drpat on Mar 25, 2009 1:46 PM EDT reply actions

my pitchers are

volquez, cliff lee, scherzer, price, bowden, and i have porcello, bumgarner, strasburg in the minors. i know that you cant predict two years down the road but this is easily the best part of my team, the rest being

C- John Baker
1B – Sandoval
2B – Alexi Casilla, Gordon Beckham
SS – Alexei Ramirez, Alcides Escobar
3B – Mark Teahen, Dayan Viciedo
OF – Maybin, Fowler, Cruz, Span, Spilborghs, Brett Gardner

is jordan schafer a decent pick here or at 14? major league ready 5 tool outfielder?

I would have taken Santana regardless

but catcher is definitely your biggest need here.

by aCone419 on Mar 25, 2009 1:53 PM EDT up reply actions

I would

Definitely take one of the SPs next. They’re talented guys. You can get a C/1B/OF with the 14th and be just fine.

by fuzzy14eva on Mar 25, 2009 2:33 PM EDT up reply actions

took feliz…ill probably trade the 14th pick since i have to use keeper slots and i can target one of those guys next year

by drpat on Mar 25, 2009 3:27 PM EDT reply actions

you might want to

keep that pick and take Santana if he’s still there. I don’t think Baker’s very strong, really your only weak spot, besides OF depth.

you think santana gets called up this year? will he start full time in 2010?

by drpat on Mar 25, 2009 5:55 PM EDT reply actions

Heyward

Is he someone who is available? I’d take him.

by dlanod115 on Mar 26, 2009 10:43 AM EDT reply actions

nope, drafted last year

by drpat on Mar 26, 2009 5:21 PM EDT up reply actions

order

feliz
santana
hosmer
beckham
anderson

based on you having a lot of pitching depth and what you’ve said. I’d be inclined to switch Santana and Hosmer if you have a good young catcher, but based on positional scarcity and closeness and what you’ve given us, would say that.

by roaddog on Mar 26, 2009 2:27 PM EDT reply actions

re: I'd take scarcity over Feliz

Carlos Santana could be a stud catcher…and let’s be honest Baker is middling at best.
my order:

Santana,
Morrison,
Hosmer
Anderson,
Beckham,
Feliz.
