Which Prospect To Cut?

(24-team strat league, 40 in majors, 10 in minors which can include players outside of MLB systems such as college and Japan)

If I can't pull off a trade in the next week, I will have to cut one of the following good minor-leaguers.  Assume real-world worth, except that RHP are slightly more valuable than LHP.  It's not roto, so things like defense are important and home park and team quality really aren't.  Thoughts?

1. Jeremy Jeffress
2. Wade Davis
3. Neftali Feliz
4. Hank Conger
5. Brandon Erbe
6. Desmond Jennings
7. Nick Weglarz
8. Josh Reddick
9. Jeremy Hellickson
10. Fautino De Los Santos

Thanks!

I'd cut De Los Santos

Even if he comes back healthy he may not be as good as your other pitchers.

I'd cut

Ya i’d cut De los santos if not him than Erbe but if he ever gets moved to the bullpen you could regret cutting him.

Reddick

He’s just an OFer.

There are plenty of toolsy OFers who dont walk. He could be very good if he pans out… but what are the chances? Even if he does, what are the chances he breaks Boston’s lineup?

FDLS would be my second choice… but he has put up some pretty special numbers. Id rather give a guy like that the benefit of the doubt…

Conger

I would strongly consider cutting Conger as well

Extremely likely he’s moved off catcher from what I understand. If so, that would make him a pretty marginal fantasy asset down the road…

Reddick or DLS

Yup

Definitely De Los Santos for me. I am curious on why rhp are more valuable than lhp in this league though.

Strat...

Because the cards are codified from last year’s stats, and the game is centered around L/R splits, it’s a lot easier to load up on RH batters who mash lefties than to load up on LH batters who mash RH. With 6 teams full of “extra players” (24 team league), there are plenty of excess lefty bashers sitting around. Last year, I traded for Joe Dillon, for example, to use his 82 PA against LHP… against whom he hit .556 in 2007 (.636/.778 OB/SLG). It’s different from typical baseball perception that lefties are better, which is why I pointed it out for non-SOM players.

FDLS

is the “winner” here for me. I quite disagrre about those who choose Conger. Sure his main value is as a catcher, but if defense really matters, the fact that he probably won’t keep catching is somewhat mitigated. I still like his bat.

cut Fautino De Los Santos

He won’t do anything for you. I have him on my team right now but in my league we can hold 20 minor leaguers. You will be better off hanging on to the others for now.

Exactly my reasoning.

A noob or n00b is someone that lacks intellegance or common sense, most people think that noob is a word used only in the online gaming world, but in reality it is becoming an ever popular word with teenage society.

a noob could be simply a level 100 running round shouting ‘’WTF DO I GO!?’’ or someone calling someone else a noob and then getting hit with a brick, anyone can call anyone a noob, but normally they are noobs themselves

not DLS

I’d go with conger as well. not being able to stick at catcher is big, since his bat might only play well at C. His bat does not look special at all.

I might even think of Erbe or Jeffress before DLS too. They just seem like hard throwers that have terrible control and will likely never have any.

I just think DLS has a lot more upside than half those players listed, but if the injury risk scares you too much, then you cut him. Just that you’d be able to add a bat/pitcher of the others caliber easier than DLS’ if he stays healthy. Just more upside with him, that’s why I’d keep him.
