Community Prospect List: #145
After 203 votes the winner of the poll is Michael Montgomery with 14% of the vote. Will Inman (144-5%), Juan Francisco (144-4%), Wes Hodges (144-2%), Adam Moore (144-2%), Yorman Rodriguez (144-3%), Brandon Erbe (144-5%) will be removed from the poll because they fell below the 7% cutoff. Juan Duran, Jess Todd, Jay Jackson, Luke Hughes, Cedric Hunter, Nolan Reimold, Reese Havens will be added to the poll. Also, when listing testers if you do not provide the first AND last names they will not be considered. I am doing away with runoff votes as the polls are starting to get more time consuming and spring training games are fast approaching.

Ramirez
His potential puts him ahead of everyone on this poll IMO.
honest question
but how is his potential greater than say, Jay Jackson. I’m not saying one is better than the other, but simply asking how Ramirez’s upside tops Jackson. Both have a good one, two punch (fast/slider for Jackson, fast/curve for Ramirez). Both need to improve their third pitch. Ramirez is a year younger. Both are projected to be able to increase their velocity some more. Jackson is the better athlete. I’m a fan of Ramirez’s, and I pushed for him to be on this poll, but I don’t see how his upside is greater.
now i gotta find a new guy to vote for
hmm
kulbacki looks decent, but in general i’m always a bit skeptical of what hitters do in the CAL league.
ok, i’m going with Detwiler. i had a mancrush on him last year, and I fail to believe his stuff dropped off THAT far.

+1
I seems impossible for him to have dropped off that much after his stuff looked so good a year ago.
I think his stuff is fine
Although there were some reports of inconsistency on the curve, I believe. My concern is with his mechanics/delivery, and how that impacts his control. I mean, all indications are that they overhauled his mechanics last year. Granted, he pitched well late, so that is a nice, sign, but it still worries me a bit. If everything is in order, then sure, he’s still a nice middle of the rotation projection. But I can’t help but wonder if there’s a bit of Donald Veal here. For Nationals fans, here’s hoping there isn’t.
What is fixed?

Squeeze Play
Valencia received 16 votes between approximately 1:00 EST and 2:00 EST. So, almost two-third of Valencia’s vote total after six hours came during a single hour span.
Sadly, there were similar voting patterns in 138 (Boscan) and 141 (Hunt). Perhaps the duplicitousness of Minnesotans has been underestimated.

We're supposed to believe that people are ballot stuffing?
Here? At the 138th and 141st prospect? If anyone cares that much, let them.

Obviously...
people still are ballot stuffing. Which means the rest of us are wasting our time if the ballot-stuffed player ends up winning. Dont know why people are apathetic about it just because we’re in the lower rankings now. If you’re not going to pay attention to it now, why not just end the polls now?
Ending the polls
We have a fascination with round numbers. I dunno, I haven’t voted since Jose Ceda made the list, but it’s still interesting to look at the picks made.

Danny Valencia could play in the Show by September!
IMHO he could be that could in 2009….
I vote for him a 2nd time.

Voting for him a 2nd time...
Meaning @ spots # 144 and now #145… not twice in this same ballot – lol
that seems to be what some of the commenters’ above think
Maybe someone out there has like a half dozen accounts and uses all of them to vote for one person every single time….ITs quite a reasonable explanation…
Pissed that may be the case? – Well, there isn’t much I or any of us can do can we?

You don't need
that many accounts if you clear your cookies you can vote as much as you want but i don’t think we were referring to you just in general.
Reds IFA
Big time IFA signed for $2 mill in a weird way (google him for the details on the signing). He is an enormous kid with big time power potential a lot of projection on him.
