Chris Marrero
I am stuck with a tough choice. I can only keep 6 of these guys in a really tough points league (UFS for those who have heard of it)
Desmond Jennings - no brainer
Maddison Bumgarner - no brainer
Tim Beckham - big name no production so far but only 19
Danny Espinosa - I like this kid and had some great AFL reports
Jaff Decker - bad body big bat
Bobby Borchering - huge bat potential
Will Myers - I will need a C in a few yrs
Chris Marrero - I fear if I cut him he will turn into the next Hawpe/Kubel type hitter
Rafael Rodriguez - RF is a tough position to fill in my league and there scooped up by other owners very early from the minors if they are available
I am leaning towards cutting Rodriguez and Marrero......also Thomas Neal, Lonnie Chisenhall, Reese Havens and Ryan Kalish are other players that are available and would you rank any of them with higher ceilings than what I already have?
My league has 16 teams and 25 players per team with a 6 player minor league ...so its a battle for all the hitters with potential in the minors and who ever I cut will most likely get picked up quickly when the off season transactions start up so I would greatly apreciate any help.

few others
A few other good prospects are available to pick up.
Miguel Jean (Sano), Wilson Ramos and Scott Sizemore would be the hitters
I have some real good young pitching already in the bigs but here would be the stronger ones available.
Arodys Vizcaino, Jacob Turner, Casey Crosby, Mike Montgomery and Daniel Hudson.
Would any of these players be a better long term choice than what I already have?
Suggestion
Low minors guys aren’t worth it. Usually you can graduate a high minors guy, then scoop up another low minors with high upside. There’s many more low minors high upside guys than high minors good ability guys. RafRod is almost a for sure cut.
Hey guys, I run a music blog. alternative, powerpop, punk, electronica, screamo, etc etc, check it out. http://muzikdizcovery.blogspot.com/ artist interviews and many other stuff. free cookies! (not really, but still) :D
They only are...
if you belive they will be a quick riser. For example, I would keep Wil Myers because I believe his bat will carry him very quickly through the minors even if it means moving off C.
Exactly
But any Foreign signee isn’t worth it at all. Same with many high school players.

But
I normally would agree with you on the low minors guys…but in my league its where you make or break your team.
With 16 teams and a 6 man minor league thats almost 100 minor leaguers that will be picked up making the players in the low minors all that is typically left to try and find the next stud.
Thats how I got Zimmerman, Jennings, Porcello ect…I had to grab them a few days after they were drafted in the bigs…otherwise someone else would have snatched them up quickly.
So I am very cautious with RafRod…as soon as I cut him, there will be 3 or 4 owners that will grab him quickly as RF seems to be the toughest position to find right now in my league and they go like water.
100 Minor Leaguers
I hate to say it, but that’s nothing. What is the turnover rate for the top 100 every year? I’d like to see the percentage of non-graduates that don’t reenter the top 100 to the amount that do.
Believe me, it’s easy.

Here we go
No brainers(from your list)
Madison Bumgarner
Desmond Jennings
Definites from the FA pool
Casey Crosby
Lonnie Chisenhall
Last two spots really depend on possible roster needs I think. If you have a need at 2B I’d consider Havens, maybe Espinosa who will probably be either a 2B or SS. I like all of Beckham/Myers/Borchering/Decker, but without knowing the settings for your league it’s hard to say. If OBP and/or walks count Decker would be an appealing option, not so much in standard 5×5 categories. Hard to say where Beckham ends up defensively, most places I could see him at 3B when he moves off of SS but that doesn’t work in Tampa. He could end up in RF potentially with his arm, but that’s totally a guess at this point. Myers and Borchering are so far away it’s hard to carry them with so few spots, especially with the talent that appears available right now.
I guess I’d say one of Havens/Espinosa(unless you need immediate 2B help then Sizemore isn’t a bad idea) and probably Decker(if you count OBP) or Thomas Neal(I’m not huge on him, but he’s closer than most of these guys and looks pretty good).
RIP Nick Adenhart
Crosby
I admit I do like Crosby a lot….but maybe I should list my pitching staff and see if you guys still think I should grab him.
Cain
Lester
Gallardo
Danks
Porcello
Brandon Webb
-———
Bumgarner
Buchholz
Manny Parra
Sean West
I had put a lot of effort into turning over my staff the last few yrs which is why I was looking more at hitting….but its never a bad idea to get as much young talented pitching as you can.
I am a little surprised at tall he Chisenhall love. Am I missing something with him?
Weak OF
I also need some new corner OFs pretty badly. I have Dunn who I fear will be moved to 1st base…some solid CFs with Ellsbury, Franklin Guitterez and Coco Crisp along with Desmond Jennings in the ML.
I have no RF to speak of which is why with our last pickup of last years season I grabed Rafel Rodriguez on a whim knowing almost nothing about him except that he was one of the only minor league RFs worth anything left available to pick up….and he signed for big money.
Thus the reason I have a few extra OFs on my minor league list
Hitters
Here is what I have for my hitters . Which may help with the advice.
In my league you do start backups and whichever starters do not get 7 games in any week…then it goes to the backups for every game needed to fill that void…so good backups can make or break your team.\ as they do get plenty of points over the course of the year.
C – Pierzynski
C – Geovany Soto
1st – Morneau
2nd – Pedroia
SS – Asdrubal Cabrera
SS – JJ Hardy
3rd – Zimmerman
3rd – Lowell
LF – Dunn
CF – Ellsbury
CF – Guiterrez
RF – ?
DH – David Ortiz/Vlad Guerrero
Other hitters I own
Coco Crisp
Martin Prado
Borchering
I cant find a lot of info on him but it seems like you guys are not high on him. From what I read his bat is loaded with power potential…why is he not one I want to keep? is it the fact he is very young and unproven?
Of
I think Dunn losses his eligibility n LF this year. Corner OF’s are a problem now with all the platoons. Raf Rod I feel is worth keeping for the reasons you’ve stated.
Dont worry
Id say Jaff Decker is a pretty safe bet to be your RF of the future- do not listen to any of that “bad body” nonsense. He can play.
If you are need ing depth in Rf I would say sign Thomas Neal. Trying to figure out what he is lacking for people and I dont know- hits, hits for power, nice build, athletic, works the count. He’s gonna be a nice big league Ofr.
Btw, not sure exactly how your league works but it looks like Dez Jennings could play some RF this year as well.
My choices
I also have Jennings and Bumgarner as definites. I also put Chisenhall in this group.
I like Myers and Marrero, but not as much as Dacker, Espinosa, Beckham, or Borchering. And besides Chisenhall, my favorite free agent you mentioned is Montgomery.
If I chose six, they’d be (in order) Bumgarner, Chisenhall, Jennings, Espinosa, Dacker, and Montgomery. (Truth be known – I’m not a big Jennings fan, but I can’t give any good reasons for that, so rather than dispute so many other opinions of him, I don’t want to drop him down too far, either…)
The wind is in the buffalo.
