I like it
Well, I like the fact that Britton is ahead of Arrieta. I’m not so sure that I wouldn’t put Britton ahead of Josh Bell … but I can also see the case the other way (it’s probably the easier case to make – Bell ahead of Britton that is). I probably would’ve put Erbe ahead of snyder I think and maybe drop Mickolio a spot.
erbe is ahead of brandon synder
because they project erbe to be a closer
How can Brandon Waring go from being picked in October as the best player in the Orioles organziation, to not cracking the organizational Top 10?
When was he picked as the best player in the organization?
Maybe he wont minor league player of the year but that doesn’t mean “best player in the organization.” Ryan Royster won the Rays minor league player of the year a couple years ago I believe and I certainly don’t think anyone felt he was the best player.
in a fantasy league (keeper)
would you trade matusz for a guy like pedro alvarez?
Depends on the format
Im not sure I would right now… pretty close, though. Id probably try to get something else out of it to make it an easier decision.

Predict the future!
People are projecting that Josh Bell will hit 20-25 homers but what about Brandon Warring? The guy is a pure power hitter.
Do people see him in the mold of a more patient Adam Dunn? A David Ortiz kind of homers and doubles guy? Or, hopefully not, a strike-out, take a walk, or hit it out Jack Cust kind?
To be fair...
Dunn’s not as extremely patient as he appears to be. He’s on the high end, yeah, but a lot of his walks come because he swings and misses a lot.
The most patient player in baseball last year (by swing %) was Luis Castillo. Dunn, surprisingly enough, swung more often than Elvis Andrus.
But it was more fun to make the Howard joke.
Casey Blake
I see Waring as a poor-man’s Casey Blake, albeit younger for his level than Blake was in the minors. Career journeyman, could stick and put up a few solid seasons with the bat while not playing great defense.
Awww, you're no fun.
I’d personally say Carlos Pena as a comp, but with a more TTO-oriented approach.
really?
How much more TTO-oriented can you get than Carlos Pena?
Carlos Pena, but more TTO-oriented
Ryan Howard, but with more power
Adam Dunn, only more patient
Come on, mrkupe, you’re catching on… ;)

When did Billy Rowell every show anything, other than projection?

He mashed his first season
It was just short season and rookie ball, and he’s regressed steadily since then, but he put up some very impressive numbers at three levels as a 17-yo.
The hype that year was pretty crazy
