Teahen to the White Sox....
Fields and Getz to the Royals.
Read most places that Teahen slots at 3B now. With Dye option being declined, how do things shake out? The consensus I have seen is that Ramirez goes to 2B, Beckham to SS. So what happens in RF? Rios there and Podsednik in CF? I have no idea of Pods' defense, or if he's worthy of playing every day at this point (or even at all in CF). They also signed Mark Kotsay to a 1 year deal. I am interested in what the great minds here think happens, I respect the opinions here, fo rthe most part.

Sox GM says Beckham to 2B
I don’t like it personally, but seems like that’s the thought right now.

Why make him a third baseman if your just gonna move him again?
He’s done pretty good at Third base and theres no real reason to trade him. You can move ramirez to 2b and probably put beckham back at SS. i’m having a hard time thinking of who the White sox currently have who can play 3rd and 2nd in both the minors and majors but from what i can remember its not that bad.

Guess they like Dayan taking over 3rd in 2011
I thought he would end up at 1st after Konerko’s contract was up w Beckham staying at the hot corner.

I love when the White Sox do silly things
They trade Josh Fields in part because he’s a butcher at third, and they bring in… Mark Teahen to play third! Mark Teahen is basically Josh Fields with less power. Weird. Just weird.
To the OP who suggested Rios in right and Podsednik in center. Seriously? Rios is a plus defender, and Podsednik in center…well… you may as well just bring in Griffey again. Then give Griffey’s legs a severe beating with a tire iron. Podsednik can’t even handle left field competently. How on earth can he play center?
Seems like Rios has center, Quentin in left, and if they re-sign Podsednik (who for some reason believes he’s worth something like $7.5 mil per year on a multi-year deal according to one report I heard), Quentin slides to right and Pods plays left.
Gonna be another baaaad defensive team even with Rios in center and an ok Ramirez at short.

I wasn't implying Pods in CF...
I was trying to figure the mess out. I said I had no idea of Pods’ D and wether he was worthy to even play every day, let alone play CF every day. Sounds like he’s pretty bad in the OF though, so I guess that wouldn’t even be an option.

you seriously just favorably compared josh fields to mark teahen.

Well, I more negatively compared Mark Teahen to Josh Fields
They’re kinda the same guy though, but Teahen is a little bit (maybe 1 win, at most) better. Both guys can’t play third, strike out a lot, don’t walk enough. Fields has more power. Teahen is less likely to fall off (or have fallen off) a cliff.
I don’t think there’s a lot that separates them.

Really the only major difference between the two is which batter's box they stand in when hitting.

josh fields cannot hit major league pitching.
i’d say that’s what separates them. saying they both “strike out a lot” sort of misses the point when one does it a lot more than the other due to a complete inability to hit a fastball.

He hit major league pitching halfway decently as a 24 year old in 2007
In 2008 he was hurt, and I have no idea what happened last year (probably the Sox trying to make him to different things as a 2 hitter).

it sometimes takes a bit for teams to realize a player's weakness.
he simply can’t catch up to a fastball of even average velocity. and, unfortunately for him, there aren’t any roster spots available for players who cannot play defense and can only hit soft-tossing lefties.

hopefully white sox fans can quickly get used to ground outs to 2B
baseball rules.

I'd say yes
given they saw plenty of them from Fields and (especially) Getz this season.

Fields couldn't get the bat around fast enough to hit a ground out to 2B.
Of course, now that I say that, the Royals will by a stroke of luck be able to fix his mechanics inadvertently and blast 35 home runs this year.

Beckham moving to 2B
White Sox GM Kenny Williams said Friday that Gordon Beckham will serve as the club’s starting second baseman in 2010.
Chris Getz and Josh Fields were shipped to the Royals on Friday for Mark Teahen, who will take over at third base in Chicago. “I can’t seem to find the position I’ve played my whole career,” Beckham, a natural shortstop, told MLB.com. He started over 100 games at third base in ’09, but this is the most logical way for the White Sox to fit Teahen into the lineup.

Seems like a bad idea to piss off your future star player, too.

He said it jokingly. Here's the exact quote.
“I can’t seem to find the position I’ve played my whole career,” Beckham told MLB.com with a bit of a laugh…

Beckham doesn't seem like a guy who would let it affect his play anyway
But that’s some crappy reporting there to not include the laugh. That changes the statement entirely.
