Last year's rookies top community prospects for future performance #15

Over the last several days we have determined that this community likes Holland, Latos and Tillman a great deal, and just about exactly the same and in exactly the same numbers as each other.  After a day of voting in the run off, Holland and Latos were separated by just a single vote, with quite a good number of votes in, so we're just going to call it a tie for 13/14.  So, here is where we are so far:

1. Matt Wieters, C Baltimore

2. Tommy Hanson, P Atlanta

3. Andrew McCutchen, of Pittsburgh

4. Brett Anderson P Oakland

5 Gordon Beckham, 3b CHW

6. Rick Porcello, P Detroit.

7.Elvis Andrus, SS Texas

8. Colby Rasmus, of St. Louis

9. David Price, P Tampa Bay

10. Travis Sinder, of Toronto

11.  Dexter Fowler, of Colorado

12. Chris Tillman, p Baltimore

13t. Matt Latos, p San Diego

13t  Derek Holland, p Texas

Star-divide

Going back to the voting in round 13, we had nine people on the ballot, two of whom were Holland and Latos who come off because they were elected, and two others who ran under 5% in Bard and Laporta.  While it would normally be safe to remove players with such a low vote total for a round or two, in the case of Laporta, who was just short of 5%, I am convinced that there is a chance he will draw significant support this round and am leaving him on, although I am temporarily dropping Bard.

Jeff Neimann, Ricky Romero and Nolan Reimold are added back this round, and Marc Rzepczynski  gets on the ballot for the first time.

temporarily dropped from the poll (percentage and round in parens) Gerardo Parra 0% (8), Luis Valbuena 2% (10), Drew Stubbs 3% (11), Mat Gamel 1% (11), Randy Wells 0% (11), J.A. Happ 1% (12), Everth Cabrera 2% (12), Daniel Bard 2% (13)

Parra, Valbuena and Stubbs will be added back next round.  I also like to add one completely new player each round so if you have any suggestion as to who that should be, please post it below.  I am thinking Borbon at the moment but could be convinced to go in a different direction.

Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving.

Coghlan or Maybin

voted Coghlan as I think he’s a bit safer, but Maybin’s dropping a lot more than I expected.

I mean, he looks like a solid enough #4 starter. He certainly shouldn’t be snagging votes from LaPorta, Maybin, Blanks, Coghlan and others, but he doesn’t suck.

I probably would have voted...

Parra if he was on this poll. He has solid power, good speed, and good defense. He could be a good player with a couple of all star years with the D-Backs. Thats not as good as what some of these other guys may do, but I see parra actually reaching that level.

Parra

As I said above definitely planing on getting him back on next round. I think he is worthy of consideratoin although I also think that among players who weren’t at the top of prospect lists last year that I and probably many others would take Coghlan over him.

Parra

Went Maybin here, but Parra is getting closer for me. There are about 4-5 guys I like better than Parra at this point…

I went LaPorta, though I was torn between him and Maybin. In my mind, LaPorta’s almost a surefire bet to be a .270/.350/.500 hitter, and I’ll tolerate his so-so defense for that.

Not that I would vote for him yet but

you need to add Julio to the list.

Borbon

As I say above I am thinking of adding him next round, but the Ranger’s inability to commit to him at cf definitely weighs a bit on my evaluation of his value.
