BA MARLINS TOP 10
1. Mike Stanton, of
2. Logan Morrison, 1b
3. Chad James, lhp
4. Matt Dominguez, 3b
5. Gaby Sanchez, 1b/3b
6. Ryan Tucker, rhp
7. Kyle Skipworth, c
8. Isaac Galloway, of
9. Scott Cousins, of
10. Jhan Marinez, rhp
** Does Gaby Sanchez really belong at #5? He turned 26 years old in September and is probably a 1B.
** Skipworth has yet to prove his worth as his career OPS is barely above 600. Fun fact: he posted the same BA (.208) and OBP (.263) in 2008 and 2009.

*** Morrison is best power hitter?
Stanton is arguably the best power hitting prospect, but BA listed Morrison as the Marlins’ best. Oversight or do they expect Logan’s power to explode onto the scene this year?
Morrison's power
Seems like it has been universally underrated. That being said, there is noone in the minors that has more power potential than Stanton. It was obviously an oversight by whomever posted the list.
Switch out Sanchez
Insert Brad Hand at #5 and the list looks more logical. I’d like to know why BA thinks Hand isn’t the top 10?
George Costanza: Jerry, let me tell you something, “A man without hand is not a man.”
I got so much hand I’m coming out of my gloves. I got to thank Kramer.
Skipworth
Yes it is too early to call Kyle Skipworth a bust, but I still think its a shaky proposition to see a man with the name of “Skipworth” ever being a super star in the major leagues.
evaluation by name
you should start a blog and write about all the prospects you think will be super stars and wont be super stars based on their names
im really interested in who else you think is limited by the arrangements of the letters on the back of their jerseys
i mean, it couldnt be because skipworth had a terrible season, god no…. it has to be because his name is skipworth….
Is it just me...
or does this system look incredibly weak beyond the top 3?
Jhan Marinez
Not that I don’t like him, but i dont really see how a 21 yr old reliever with decent numbers makes it in the top ten but Hand is left out. Look at his numbers after a rough start……really good
The writeup/chat indicated that Marinez might move into a starting role.
If so, he has quite the upside.
His inning count
It is so incredibly low (64 innings in 3 years) i don’t know how he would be able to step in up and move to AA….I do like him as a future late inning guy, just unsure why he is above Hand thats all
How hard does he throw?
It said he has the best fastball and I have never seen him. Just curious
The article cites him at reaching 98
I’ve heard he’s hit 100 before, though I can’t remember where off hand (Goldstein maybe?).
