Community Prospect List - Indians

Continuing on with the AL Central, comes the Indians. The Indians have added a ton of talent this year and could very well be in the top 5. The DeRosa and Lee trades brought in tons of talent. 130 AB, 50 IP limits.

1. Carlos Santana

2. Hector Rondon

3. Lonnie Chisenhall

4. T.J. House

5. Alex White

Other names to consider are (takes deep breath in)...

Weglarz, Abner Abreu, McBride, Brown, Mills, Barnes, Carrasco, De La Cruz, Gomez, Graham, Knapp, Alex Perez, Putnam, and Jess Todd.

That's some amazing pitching depth.

I really like Alex White and I think turning him into a RP (which has been alluded to) would be a HUGE mistake.

I suppose

it’s debatable although I lean towards no.

Certainly a top ten system.

I'd have a tough time finding 5 better

In the AL, Texas and Oakland are in the mix, with TB just on the outside. In the NL, nothing really comes that close. If in fact Laporta isn’t rookie eligible, that hurts (although not in the grand scheme of things if you’re an Indians fan). Looks like they’ll be in for a fun run over the the next 5-7 years, similar to their run in the 90’s.

Best So Far?

I think it’s definitely passed Texas.

Might not be the #1 system overall, likely top 5

But I do think their 6th-15th prospects are better than any other systems’ (except for possibly Texas)

I’m not sure what either of you are looking at. Yahoo, MiLB.com, fangraphs and MLB.com all agree that he’s had 181 ABs this season.

130. Obviously it’s not right, but that’s what I saw which is why I included him in my top 5.

I’m not sure who I prefer to be honest. So I gave it the lefty bump. To be honest, much as I like Rondon, I think I prefer Hagadone and Knapp over Rondon in terms of talent, but Rondon’s closer to ready.

5. Really, could put a ton of names here. Probably Chisenhall, maybe Alex White.

good system

Gomez

Man, he barely got mentioned, and he’s pretty good. Deep system.

by wobatus on Oct 8, 2009 11:54 PM EDT up reply actions

absolutely agree

he really emerged this year, I have him just a tick below Rondon as far as their starters go.

by MightyMoose on Oct 9, 2009 8:06 AM EDT up reply actions

Hagadone is grossly overrated, IMO. He’s almost certainly a lefty power arm out of the pen, which is great, but not top 5.

by WrenFGun on Oct 8, 2009 11:47 PM EDT reply actions

He has great stuff – closer’s stuff. Outside chance he starts, too. There’s a lot to like here.

#1 system in baseball

I tend to think so

I'm kinda surprised to see no mention of

Luke Donald or Lou Marson anywhere in a top 10…..

Also for me, Yes, I like other arms such as De La Cruz, Perez, Pryce, Putnum as well…

Deolis Guerra = Daniel Cabrera ?

Incredible Pitching Depth...

1) Santana
2) Rondon
3) Chisenhall
4) Hagadone
5) House
6) Weglarz
7) Gomez
8) Carrasco
9) Knapp
10) De La Cruz
11) Perez
12) Abreu
13) White
14) Berger
15) Barnes

… younger names like Clayton Cook, Zach Putnam, Jason Kipnis, Jordan Henry, Jesus Brito, Paolo Espino, Beau Mills, and Chen-Chang Lee could all be vying for a Top 10-15 spot.

Then some older prospects like Yohan Pino, Chuck Lofgren, Josh Tomlin, Jordan Brown, Wes Hodges, and Steven Wright could apply somewhere.

This system is ridiculously deep.

by RogerDorn on Oct 11, 2009 1:18 AM EDT reply actions

Question for RogerD....

Am I mistaken, or is Lou Marson, and Jason Donald in the Indians system ?

Deolis Guerra = Daniel Cabrera ?
I tend to think so

by SteveHoffmanSlowey on Oct 12, 2009 2:30 AM EDT up reply actions

Of Course They're In the System

But are you really excited about the prospects about a backup catcher and utility infielder? I realize that both could start at those respected positions to start the year, but Marson will be relegated to backup duty by June, and Donald likely won’t be more than a potential platoon with Valbuena and backup in other spots.

I realize I didn’t mention them at all, and that was a mistake, but I’m not all too excited about them. That could change, and they’re certainly depth.

by RogerDorn on Oct 12, 2009 10:07 PM EDT up reply actions
