Twins Win!
I'll refrain from excessive partisanship from now on (unless the Twins get to the Series), but allow me this one moment please.
WIN TWINS!!!!!
That was the most intense baseball game I've seen since the 1991 World Series.

Agreed
If the umps head isn’t in his *ss, Inge goes to first, a run scores and who knows what else happens.
Tigers got screwed.

Well, Earlier in the game (maybe the 8th)
Aubrey Huff (I think) was at the plate and was hit in the pant leg….and it looked like it may have missed him completely but he was ruled 1st base…
so the umps head wasn’t in his arse the whole game for sure…
also, good tight solid strike-zone
Deolis Guerra = Daniel Cabrera ?
I tend to think so

Pretty awesome that we've had three straight years with nail-biter one-game playoffs
Linda's in the cold ground, won't see her anymore
Somewhere out on the highway tonight, the drunken engines roar
It's just one of those things, one of those things

ump sucked
Yes, the umpire did suck, but don’t forget that the Tigers benefited quite nicely from it too. Scott Baker had a strike zone the size of a quarter.

Phew Mauer's team made the playoffs
Now all the old people will be OK voting for him.

That's the primary reason I was rooting for the Twins
I’m pretty indifferent to both teams, but the baseball world NEEDS to see how awesome Mauer is, and like you said, nobody can use the “his team didn’t win” argument against him now. In fact, with Morneau out, the dinosaurs are probably more likely to vote Mauer because they made this great run without Morneau.

Twins
You almost nailed the score. Exciting game!

Michael Cuddyer has been huge for them.
Since Justin Morneau has been out, Cuddyer has hit .321 with 8 HR’s and 24 RBI’s in 21 games. The Twins have gone 17-4 in those 21 games.

Who EVER would have guessed the HEROES for the Twinks in that game would have been...
1. Alexi Casilla (6/7th infielder)
2. Matt Tolbert (starting 3rd basemen, No Joe Crede)
3. Bobby Keppell (7th option out of the bullpen, long-reliever)
H.M. Carlos Gomez (5th outfielder, speed is essentially only asset offensively)
wha ?
Deolis Guerra = Daniel Cabrera ?
I tend to think so

Humbug
You better make this up to us Tigers fans with a review of Avila/Perry this week. :)

most intense-, best-, most exciting-, etc., game in years?
you guys must not remember—or have watched—the Yankees/Red Sox playoff games in the early part of the decade.

all subjective
If you’re a Twins fan I’m assuming John meant.
As a Dbacks fan nothing beats 2001 game 7. Everything about that game was dramatic. Schilling and Clemens matching gutsy performances, game tied until the 8th when Schilling let up a bomb to Soriano. Dbacks then bring in Big Unit out the pen to shut them out in the 9th, setting up the dramtic come form behind win off the best closer ever…… what can beta that?

yes
Yes, I was speaking as a Twins fan, someone emotionally involved. I couldn’t care less about the Yankees or Red Sox…obviously I appreciate a great game, but i’m talking about CARING who wins on a personal basis.

As a Red Sox fan living in NY
I think the Twins game last night was more interesting in that it went back and forth more often.
The big Sox/Yankees game from ‘04 was game 4 and the Roberts steal. Yes, that was a better comeback, but the game itself wasn’t as much back and forth.
It’s kind of like how people talk about the Patriots/Giants Superbowl as being awesome. But it wasn’t. The game was actually pretty boring and poorly played. The last 4 minutes of the game was very interesting, but that doesn’t overshadow a boring game.
The Twins/Tigers game last night was just back and forth all night. The Fangraphs win value chart looks like an EKG.
