*Fantasy Question*

In a 10 team keeper dynasty league (there is no limit how long we can keep our players) I was offered either Matt Holliday OR Andre Ethier for Cole Hamels...My OF's currently are Shane Victorino, Bobby Abreu, Michael Bourn, Carlos Beltran and Ben Zobrist (all of which finished top 20 in points for OF's...except for Beltran who was hurt) and my SP's are Doc Halliday, Ubaldo, Wainwright, Gallardo, Hamels, De La Rosa, Wandy...I am leaning towards taking Matt Holliday for Hamels...any thoughts? Thanks

Holliday has more value

High average with power and steals, though that value may go down if he’s signed by the Yankees. Either may have more pop in his bat, but he isn’t an all around player at all. Besides, Holliday’s OPS this year and last year are better than Ethier and it doesn’t even count the good baserunning that Holliday brings over him. However, if Either ever leaves the Dodgers, he’s going to hit 40, but that seems like it has no chance of happening.

As of right now Holliday >>> Ethier

Impossible not to have positive thoughts.

I want Sam Deduno to pitch already.

I'd go Holliday

He’s got a better history of hitting for avg, power, rbi. He also provides more steals, runs, and should be in a good situation if he resigns with STL or goes to the Yankees…

i am leaning towards holliday (if i deal hamels at all)

but i am nervous the giants come in with a big offer and he chases the money…which to me screams oakland all over again

the problem with oakland

wasnt just the pitchers park, its the AL (holliday gets beat by good fastballs), and the lack of any other threat in oaklands lineup, now san fran isnt exactly murderers row, but they have the panda, they should have posey in there… a few guys who can swing the stick

What?

The A’s scored 759 runs. The Giants only scored 657 in a league where it’s easier to score runs. That’s a pretty big gap.

The A’s had a bad offense… but the offense Brian Sabean put together should go down as one of mankind’s most heinous crimes.

Protection is 99% a myth anyway, but if youre suggesting that Holliday would get more protection in San Fran than he would in Oakland, well, that’s just false.

i'd be interested to see

yea but im comparing 2010 where the giants will have posey who is without a doubt better with the stick that molina, a full season of sanchez at 2b…. i dont think the protection will help, but i think he’ll have more RBI opps than he did with Oakland

and the gap doesnt seem so wide when you account for average runs scored by team… 781 in the AL compared to 717 in the NL (due to the DH not being an automatic out those P outs add up over the course of 162 games) …. giants are still a weaker offense, but i see them improving more from this year to next… and he’s with out a doubt better off in the NL than the AL because its noted that he doesnt hit good fastballs well, the senior circuit is far weaker in that regard as well

re: I'd wait and see

especially if Matt Holliday ends up in say, Citi Field or as you the Place Where the Giants Play…

I still keep Hamels though, but it’s a fair trade either way.

Wait to see where Holliday ends up.

what if he ends up in boston or the with the yankees…. all the press about how many RBI’s he’ll get in those lineups will certainly inflate his value and his owner may balk….

i really dont see a situation where he’d get hurt severly… in citfield hes in a lineup with reyes, wright, beltran…. thats not a bad situation

i agree

i wouldnt mind him signing with the mets for fantasy or reality

we could use one more consistent hitter, but id rather add another solid starting pitcher to fill in behind santana…. the rotation of pelfrey/maine/ollie/warm body just doesnt inspire any confidence

lol

no it doesnt at all…i think we need at least two more starters to be honest though
