Poll Question

OK, looking at the suggested team thread, I note that the Padres, Mets, Marlins, Giants, Cubs, and Nationals were suggested. All of them interest me for various reasons.

So, in the interests of driving input and interest, which of these teams should I do after the Braves and Royals?

Nats

The Nats have a lot of guys I’m interested in hearing about—Desmond, Norris, Storen, Espinosa, Hood, Marrero…yeah, I gotta go Nats.

and Meyers, Perez, Arnesen, Lombardozzi, Jaime… Things are looking better in the National’s capitol. Rizzo on the clock now..

I really want to see if Stras gets an A

You’re name has 2k9 in it — what are you some 8 year-old who makes Pillsbury Doughboy cookies and jerks off to that bullshit video game with Tim Lincecum on the cover--

Yeah I voted Nats too

Lots of interesting specs plus I really want to see what grade Strasburg gets. According to BA he should be the no1 overall spec when they do their list this winter, so it will be interesting to see if he gets an A here.

Looking at the comments below it would seem that the Nats are the popular choice for the average baseball fan, who are just managing to hold off the many Giant fans on this board.

The Nats fascinate me the way the Rays did about 7 years ago. They’re an almost abysmal team at the Major League level, but they have the allure of having a ton of potentially top flight talent in the minors.

Watching the development should be fascinating. If half their minor leaguers live up to their billing the Nats could be beasts in 5 years. Or they could trade it all away like the Expos used to do all too frequently

Adult in charge

I’m actually more interested in the results from this year forward. I was not impressed with the way that Bowden handled the system between 2005 through 2008. Too many quick promotions and over-assigned players. No real plans seemed in place.

Now that Mike Rizzo is in charge along with the addition of Roy Clark offers Nationals fans some hope for the future. Strasburg in 2009 along with (potentially) Bryce Harper in 2010 is promising, but I am hoping we see the Nationals get things going in a much more robust manner. They have to fix their reputation in Latin America but more they need to seriously invest in their player development now.

The Mets have an interesting farm no doubt.

Guys like Mejia, Tejada, Davis, Allen, Familia, Nieuwenhuis, Thole all saw their stock rise significantly this year. Fernando finally showed the power early on, Niese was impressive, and guys like Havens, Holt and Wilmer are all very talented but had mediocre years. I really can’t wait to see how you grade this system.

Strasburg

WOW. The Nats are leading and I wonder why. Let’s get the Strasburg prediction out of the way already!
