Baseball Intellect breaks down Neil Ramirez
"You know it when you see it". That's sort of the feeling I had watching video of Ramirez. He was very impressive.Ramirez is an intriguing prospect because he possesses high quality stuff and the metrics back that up. However, Ramirez is not without any red flags. He must become more consistent and he must do a better job keeping his stuff under control. Ramirez also comes out with a higher than normal injury risk because of the violence/aggression in his delivery and other mechanical attributes that are often times associated with injury. However, Ramirez is athletic enough and young enough to make any necessary adjustments. His athleticism will give him a better chance to stay healthy as well.
Ramirez often gets lost in the shuffle of the many pitching prospects in the Texas organization, so he's relatively little talked about. Should Ramirez make progress next year and get more innings under his belt, people should begin to take notice.

Thanks for posting this
I drafted Ramirez in a fantasy league this spring, straying from usual safer type of pitcher I target-good K rate, groundballer, maybe a lower ceiling but a nice high floor. I felt like Neil was a good gamble for a higher ceiling type who could really breakout in a year or two. I’m looking forward to watching him develop over the next couple of years.

good luck w/ that
i did something similar in one of my fantasy leagues this past winter. i traded trevor cahill for julio “the phenom” teheran & wilson ramos. needless to say i wish i had a mulligan.
I heard Tim Lincecum will win 1 Cy Young & 11 Tim Lincecums. Question is, how many Cole Hamels will he win?

Thanks
Luckily, I snagged Cahill with my 20th round pick in 2007, so I’ve at least got that going for me, which is nice. I also have Drabek and Lotzkar as upside guys to go with Ramirez, so if at least 1 pans out, I’ll be happy.

other pitches?
I went to the same high school as this kid ( not at the same time). He might be the school’s first baseball prospect. From what I read in the local paper I know the kid’s got some juice on his fastball but I’m not really sure about his other pitches. Anybody?
