Guillermo Moscoso, Tigers system
This guy seems to be flying way under the radar. Stats this year. Does anyone have info on what he throws? Either way, he's coming off of TJ surgery and has made the AA transition with little effect on his K/9, BB/9 or H/9. He's 24, so he's a bit old, but I think his stats compare favorably to Erik Bedard's, who also was coming back from TJ around age 24.
If he really has the talent to K/9 13 and BB/9 2.5 in AA, he's a great prospect who deserves more hype.

is this guy for real?
tell me more about him. his numbers are sick……..i’d like to know about his velocity…is he a finesse guy with fringy stuff or a power guy? a chance he’d squeeze into the TIgers’ rotation next year?

I think it's safe
to say he’s not a finesse pitcher given the 122 K’s in 86.2 IP

True
Slowey, for example, never had a K rate anything like that.
Offense doesn't doubt me, but my first and primemost thing is defense and punt return and kickoff return

he;s an older latin kevin slowey
if he was throwing any harder than 92, either his GB rate would be in the 60 range (or at least the 50 range; it’s at 35 in A+, 29 in AA) , or his HR rate would be well above 1 (it’s at .6 in A+, 1.05 in AA). the fact that neither is the case leads me to believe that he’s just dominating by locating his fastball and changeup.
it’s not smoke and mirrors, but he’s a lower grade prospect than slowey and hellickson just because of their ages.

I'll take an older Latin Kevin Slowey
That’s still a pretty decent prospect.

re
I’m not very good at making comps myself, but I definitely do not see Slowey when I watch Moscoso. Moscoso has good command, but not Kevin Slowey pinpoint command. He is aggressive and he beats people with his stuff.

GB rates
GB rates can also be indicative of the type of breaking ball thrown, how often it is thrown, how often and what type of changeup is thrown, or the relative straightness of the fastball. I don’t think the connection between GB rate and velocity is bared out by performances of current Major Leaguers.

Anyone know anything about Erie’s defense? Moscoso had 17 runs allowed, but only 12 earned in Erie. Did the D behind him just have a couple bad games or is Erie’s defense really that bad.

Moscoso
Low 90s fastball with lots of movement, he’s been up to 94 mph, slurvy breaking ball, and a changeup. He spots all of his pitches well and he attacks the opposition. He is not afraid to challenge a guy inside. A lot of the contact off of him is weak popups, which explains why he’s given up so few home runs despite the go/ao ratio. Injuries have slowed him down in the past, but has a good arm.
