Dewitt's Status
I was just wondering whether the community sees Dewitt in the Dodgers future
now that Laroche is gone does that open a door for him next year?

Inevitable Veteran
If Colletti keeps his job, Dewitt might get a shot, but a veteran will end up in the slot again. Maybe Josh Bell will break out and take the job some day. But Dewitt has a worse rep and worse upside than LaRoche, and LaRoche was run out of town.

Ah...
But Joe Torre fell in love with DeWitt this year (at least it seemed that way). Maybe that’s DeWitt’s ticket in.

He fell in love with Shane Spencer too
Dewitt will keep blowing his chances. Not that he’s a terrible player, but he’ll get exposed time and time again as an everyday 3B. I still wonder if giving him a shot at 2B would work.

Uh...
Maybe I’m missing something but didn’t DeWitt, on the whole, perfor better than really ANYBODY thought he would?
He looked fort all the world like a very good 3b for a couple months and was just 22. He was also really good in the field. Certainly looks like the 3b for next season but I don’t think anybody can follow the Dodgers thinking on these things sometimes.

On the whole, no
On the whole, he had a 79 OPS+, which is almost exactly what I’d have expected. For a portion of the time, however, I think he played well enough to raise expectations. But for the other portion of the time, he was pretty abyssmal.
