September Callups

Well, we are a day away from the proverbial cup of coffee. Looking to compile a list of players/prospects who you expect/hope to get the callup.

Looks like Jon Niese was limited to 2.2 good innings last Friday; I presume more of a pitch limit thing than an injury. Does anyone have more insight?

Also appears the ChiSox will call up Jerry Owens for some help on the basepaths.

I would have to figure Dallas McPherson as well, unless the Marlins absolutely hate him.

WHO ELSE??

Any Crash Davis's?

the dodgers are calling Kershaw back up along with Scott Elbert, James McDonald and a few others. I am interested in hearing if anyone knows of other players who are getting called up

nice

to see Elbert make it back from the knife; wish him well

The Giants need to sign Harry Doyle.

Niese

Niese is starting on Tuesday against the Brewers. The Mets are also going to call up prospect Bobby Parnell to pitch out of the bullpen. I would expect Mr. Price to be called up by the Rays as well

I roomed with Bobby parnell one year in college. I’d love to see him do well after another Charleston Southern guy made his MLB debut this year (RJ Swindle).

Van Every

called up for OF help in Boston. 28 y.o. but does provide some left-handed pop. 26 HR on the year

The Giants need to sign Harry Doyle.

Brewers

Call up Gamel, Escobar, Salome- per Rotoworld.

The Brewers will call up top prospects Mat Gamel, Alcides Escobar and Angel Salome on Monday.
They’ll add 10 players in all. The others are pitchers Mitch Stetter, Tim Dillard and Mark DiFelice; infielders Joe Dillon and Brad Nelson; outfielder Tony Gwynn Jr. and catcher Vinny Rottino. No one in the group figures to have any fantasy value.

So, the existence of an identical post, with an identical title,

did not cause you to think about posting a duplicate fanpost?

This should be deleted and rolled into the prior discussion.

More updates

Doing some research and reading an extensive amount of articles, here is some information on players that I have tracked over the season. regarding their September call ups.

Andrew McCutchen will get called up today. While it is no surprise that McCutchen will be called up since the Pirates have nothing to play for, Andrew could use more seasoning and will not be guaranteed the CF job in 2009.

Cameron Maybin will get called up as soon as the AA Carolina finishes their season. While Florida is still in contention, Maybin is a legitimate CF and upgrade over Amezaga. If ready and has a good spring training, Maybin should own the CF job in 2009 and the controversial legend should begin his MLB career.

Colby Rasmus will not get called up today. Much to my chagrin,Tony LaRussa feels Rasmus needs to earn his promotion and injuries should not be a excuse for results. Look for Rasmus to debut in 2009 and the Cardinals to make room for him even though the OF in crowded with talent.

Fernando Martinez will also not get called up today.Similar to Rasmus, the Mets’ OF is very crowded and Martinez’s injuries have their management feeling that his time is 2009. I also disagree with this decision and look forward to his debut in late 2009.

Down – Colby Rasmus
Down – Fernando Martinez
??? – Ian Kennedy

Rasmus is going to be traded this offseason IMO

Given the breakout of Daryl Jones, who might very well be a better all around player than Rasmus. If Jones becomes the next Granderson and Rasmus becomes Finley, i’d take Granderson anyday over Finley Jr.

Not Even Close

Steve Finley is low end comp for Rasmus whereas Edmonds is a better one.

In addition, the Cardinals are very high on Rasmus and would be hard press to move Rasmus in the off-season.

Rasmus vs. Jones

I’ll take Rasmus every day of the week. They both have similar tools and abilities, but Rasmus has 30+ HR power, while Jones doesn’t even have 20.

Kila!!!!!!!!!

Kila Kaahiue, who is having an amazing season after a god awful 2006 and mediocre 2007 season, will be called up tomorrow.

Less exciting will be the return of Yas Yabuta.
