HERMIDA VS. PENCE

Which of these do you want and why, going forward?  Obviously, these two are not prospects anymore, but I have no idea what to make of them at all.  I went back and read John's old posts on these 2, but they are from 06' and that isnt helping me out much right now.  They seem very similar to me in value to thier teams as well.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.  Thanks to all.

i'd take pence

hermida might be a superstar, but i don’t have enough information about him to be certain, and sometimes, a player who’s lost the amount of developmental time that hermida has, never reaches their potential.

pence gon’ hit. i’m not sure why he hasn’t this season, but dude was locked in for 6 months last year.

Pence seems to be more athletic

and have a better plate approach

I haven't gotten to watch them much

But I was just wondering: From what I’d heard in the past, I always thought Hermida was a disciplined hitter and Pence was a hacker. Maybe they changed or I remembered wrong?

Less arm, more talk. Raisingcain is a GAMER.

being "disciplined"

in the sense of taking walks doesn’t mean a good approach.
Hermida is overly passive at the plate, willing to take too many good pitches.

Hermida

He always gets tagged as a potential superstar player but has not shown that for a full year. He’s like Milton Bradley.

Well, Milton this year...

It could just take Hermida a while to put everything together.

Hermida

its all there… one year he is going to put it all together… and he’s young enough to where he can do it in the next 3 years and he’ll still be fine age-wise. Holliday and Utley were kind of late bloomers too… I think his swing is comparable to Utley, and I like Holliday as a rh-comp, though I don’t know if Hermida’s peak will be quite as high without the Coors effect

Fantasy Kryptonite

Jeremy Hermida is my fantasy kryptonite. I take him every year in my drafts. Him and Donovon McNabb (different sport)

I've got a McPheever, and only JoJo Reyes can help me!
