Hector Rondon (Indians)
What are the thoughts on this guy? What kind of upside/ceiling?
Just 20 (2/88), he's spent the whole year in the A+ Carolina League and has had a solid campaign. His strikeout rate is up from last year in the Sally League - about 1.2 more K/9 this year. 4% higher K/PA.
* Both Kevin Goldstein and BA cite better secondary stuff this season.
* The two parties also seem in agreement about Rondon's "clean" arm action.
* 90-95 MPH fastball - BA had him sitting at 93, touching 94 in this year's Futures Game. I've seen various other pitches attributed to him - slider (79-82 at Futures Game, per BA's prospect blog), change, curve.

Reminds me of...
Jaun Cruz. Not sure if that will excite or disappoint more people though.
Probably would exciite Rondon though. Cruz will make nearly 2 million this year.
Rondon’s stuff, heith, wiriness remind me of Cruz.

I like him
The CL tools poll have him with the best changeup in the league. He has a nice fastball, so I would think -stuffwise at least – that it boils down to his breaking ball. He’s performed well at a good age for High A. I think he’s a nice prospect.
Offense doesn't doubt me, but my first and primemost thing is defense and punt return and kickoff return

He is probably the best RH prospect starter in the Cleveland system
except Adam Miller. He has two plus pitches, fastball and changeup. His breaking ball is average. He may be FOR but I am holding onto a MOR tag until AA even with his age. I expect him to be in Cleveland’s top ten prospects and may even make it to five. I am guessing he will be graded B.
