Hey John, what should the Mets do?
Wagner is out and it seems like they need a closer. Now most people are saying Heilman should be the closer. I guess Sanchez and Schoenweiss are out. But is there anyone in the Mets farm that they could bring up?
What ever happened to Matt Wise? Didn't the Mets have him?
You mean to tell me the Mets don't have any pitchers in New Orleans or Binghamton that they could bring up to pitch a measly inning every other night?

well they have Eddie Kunz
but the Mets were scared to throw him out there a lot.

Probably because of his awful platoon splits
Forget the better pedigree for a moment. Kunz has pitched like Joe Smith in the minors. It’s not just an experience thing. The guy has been killed by lefties.

Tell me more about this Kunz. I am a diehard Mets fan. I’ve watched almost every game this year. But I must admit. I haven’t heard of him

Mixed bag
He was their top pick last year, a college closer expected to move quickly. He’s been less than stellar this year in the minors, with so-so strikeout rates but very good groundball rates. As I mentioned already, his platoon splits have looked more like those of a righty specialist than those of a future closer.

Kunz
Hard sinking fastball that gets a ton of groundballs but needs to work on his slider and a changeup. everything is hard with him, so he’ll have an adjustment period i nthe majors.
