Chris Davis is a monster
it seems every HR he hits is to straight-a-way center, and he'll handle a lefty pitcher's stuff out to center too... I remember in a thread from a month or so ago, I was supporting LaPorta over Davis as the best power bat in the minors... well right now Davis is really hard to ignore, of course LaPorta is now the only of the two in the minors, so I guess I won that argument :-) . but seriously, watching Davis swing the bat is exciting... its effortless and oh so powerful... he is hulking at the plate. he looks like a hybrid of Teixeira/Dunn to me... its just beautiful to watch. anyone else as gushing over this guy as I am? His shots remind me of BOSSMAN's shots in their effortlessness. it's like the pitcher is throwing ostrich eggs up to them.

Re:
I like him a lot. Obviously the power is for real. The thing that will determine if he is a superstar is whether he can improve his approach or not. Otherwise I think we will see a lot of seasons similar to Dunn – which isn’t too bad either…
Nah, he's not Dunn
He doesn’t walk nearly as much, and won’t strike out as often either. But watch CD, and the thing that will strike you is how hard he hits the ball. He’ll likely have a very high BABIP throughout his career, because he simply smashes it whenever he makes contact. Long term, I think he’s a .260/.340/.550 hitter.
good observation
i think in his prime he will do much better than .260/.340 though… I think an avg. of .285-290 will be possible and likely once he gets accustomed to mlb pitching
Davis is a monster, but Josh Hamilton
is the King of all monsters.
Time you enjoy wasting was not wasted.
Davis
Do you think they will send this monster back to AAA if he continues to bat below the mendoza line?
Well...
if the Rangers send Davis down for striking out at the same rate he did at AAA earlier this year, they’ve got some pretty ridiculous expectations. A guy with a 73% contact rate and a HR every 9 PAs should hit higher than .200 pretty easily.
Um,
he has 5 HR’s in 45 PA’s and his OPS is .852. Not exactly a complete failure.
Time you enjoy wasting was not wasted.
What team could use that kind of power in their lineup?
Better to have the real Mario Mendoza in your lineup
