Jairo Heredia
Another strong start tonight: 6.1 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 11 GB/ 3 FB
Keep an eye out for this kid. He is the same age as teammate Jesus Montero, but has probably been more impressive in his full-season debut. He has strong walk and strikeout rates, while having an outstanding ground-ball rate. He has a low- 90's sinking fastball and a curve with plus-potential. I like what I see.

Been watching his numbers and have been surprisingly impressed. I think it’s noteworthy that he is coming off his best back-to-back outings, in which he has been dominant when his K-rate drops. I see that as a promising sign.

More impressive?
He’s ok, but at that level, I trust scouting reports more. I’ll take the elite power over a control pitcher.

Love Jairo
He has a good combination of groundball outs (2.03 GO/AO) and a solid strikeout rate (58 in 61 innings) that would indicate success at a higher level. There’s a lot to like about him statistically, and scouting-wise, he is supposed to be very polished. He may not be an ace-type prospect unless he gains a few ticks on the fastball, but at age 18, there is plenty of time for that to happen. Still, I have seen too many pitchers dominate at lower levels only to be exposed in high-A or AA, so next year will be big for him.
