Gamel or Alvarez?
Question explains it self. Who is the best 3B prospect in the game, Gamel or Alvarez? Both can rake, but have questions about there ability to stay at 3b (Gamel much more of a question than Alvarez).
Gamel's bat was always underrated because of his defense, but now no one can ignore the numbers he is putting up.
Alvarez on the other hand has been headed in the opposite direction since his injury. He has gone from being considered a generational hitter to being consider to maybe not even be the best hitter in the draft.

Alvarez
Alvarez has half a chance of staying at third. Gamel wouldn’t even be a plus glove at first. I’ll give Gamel the benefit of having raked at a higher level, but is there any way his offensive ceiling is higher than Alvarez’s?

Haa
Anyone who called Alvarez a “generational” bat isn’t seeing straight. He looked great in college.. but generational?!?? That is nuts. He looked great and his stats were great but he didn’t look THAT great and his stats weren’t THAT great either.
And anyone who has dropped Alvarez based on the injury alone is probably thinking too shortsightedly. A broken wrist would screw with any hitter pretty bad for awhile but if it is a clean fracture I would think (warning- no medical training) it shouldn’t be a career dampening injury.
That being said, I would probably take Alvarez. It isn’t wise to be too sure of things if you haven’t seen one of the two players you are talking about play (no matter how much you think you know about stats) and I haven’t seen Gamel play so take this with a big grain of salt but I get the impression that Gamel is more of a solid hitter with lots of strength in his bat but Alvarez might have more batspeed and upside… along with plenty of power too.
Plus I think Alvarez is athletic enough to be a quality 3b.

Restraining order
Pedro A. seriously should seek a judge’s intervention against some of you all.
It’s gotten so carried away…
