Luke Hughes
Luke Hughes 2B, Minnesota Twins: Don't see him on John's review of his top 20 propects for the twins. Has anybody seen this guy play and does he project to a solid starter at 2b for the twins? Can he get some at bats next year on the major league level or is he further away than that? Thanks for any and all comments on Hughes, I'm trying to get a feeling if he will become a solid regular sooner rather than later. Thanks.

100% For Real!!!!!!!!!
Hughes can mash. I recently read about him over at BP and Goldstein raves about his upside. He put on a display in batting practice at the Futures Game and projects to be an extremely good hitter with a glove that can stick at secondbase.

3b or 2b
Do you think he’ll be at 3b or 2b? Seems to be playing both these days….
(not to hijack but do you think he has more fantasy value than Reid Brignac?)

2B
From everything I have read, they expect him to stay at secondbase. In regards to Brignac, logically I would say no, but that opinion is changing with Hughes amazing season.

what is clicking for him this year?
he’s never been more than an average hitter through his first 5 milb seasons and is repeating double-a this year. is this year a sign of things to come or just a guy who’s had a good streak while repeating a level?

He is relatively new to the game
The fact that Hughes is from Australia has likely put back his development clock significantly. There baseball programs are miles behind where the USA programs are.

Big fan...
I’m new to the Luke Hughes fanclub. In fact, prior to seeing him live during the Eastern League All-Star game, and reading about him in a few posts leading up to the game, I was completely unaware of him. I’ve only seen 3 or 4 AB’s, and I’m impressed. He hit an absolute bomb during the game and looks like the anti-Twin hitter…someone with actual HR power.
I shot some video of a flyball he hit in the AB prior to the HR:

Promoted to AAA
Hughes was promoted to AAA Rochester today, so we’ll get a chance to see how he does at the next level.
