Brad Holt
I know the Mets took some criticism for possibly overdrafting him, but with his start tonight he has been excellent for Brooklyn of the New York-Penn League
Including tonight (he is done after 6 innings):
2-2, 1.57 ERA, 7 G, 7 GS, 34 1/3 IP, 20 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 14 BB, 51 K
His BAA was .182 going into tonight and will likely decrease since, through 6 innings, he has only allowed 2 hits (while walking 2 and striking out 14)

problems is, he is throwing his fastball 90% of the time
Needs those secondary pitches or else he’s going to be a backend starter.

Secondary stuff is improving
Saw Holt’s last start against Staten Island and it looks like his changeup is getting better. Still relies on the 93-94 fastball most of the time but i like the way he approaches hitters.

lol
of course his secondary stuff is getting better…everything was below average except his FB only 1.5 months ago. it had nowhere to go but up.
He is dominating younger competition with his FB..everyone knows that. wake me up when he is in high A

Younger?
He’s 21. That’s just about average for the NY-Penn League. He’s not enjoying any real age advantage…
