ANAHEIM -- The A's on Wednesday will place third baseman Eric Chavez, who has been battling a sore right shoulder for the past two weeks, on the 15-day disabled list, MLB.com has learned.

Chavez, who underwent surgery on the shoulder late last year, told MLB.com on Wednesday morning that he saw shoulder specialist Dr. Lewis Yocum on Tuesday and would have an MRI on the shoulder later Wednesday.
