Teagardon Called Up
Not only is Blalock back for the Rangers tonight, but Taylor Teagarden is in the lineup against my Twins. I'm excited to see him play!

Laird is down with a hamstring injury,
Salty got dehydrated (like Lincecum did) and is recovering, probably back in action in a few days.

Enjoy the show, while it lasts 'purppride'...
TT should have quite a long career as Max Ramirez’s backup!

I think TT will end up as the Rangers C as he’s far more advanced defensively. I also think that Ramirez/Saltalamachia will end up in some type of 1b/DH role. Not sure where either will go, but I don’t foresee Ramirez staying behind the plate. He’s not a bad catcher, but Teagarden is the best catcher of the 3 so long as he isn’t injured.

Eh
Rangers should deal one of the three to someone for a solid pitching prospect. Maybe Teagarden or Salty to the Red Sox for Justin Masterson (both teams deal from depth, the Sox recieve a good young catcher and the Rangers get a starter that keeps the ball on the ground).

I like the cut of your jib, trade-wise.

not bad?
I saw the highlights where Ramirez held on and blocked the plate, but I find it hard to believe he’s not a bad catcher. In his brief time up, here’s how his stolen base numbers stack up with Laird and Salty and the AL as a whole this year:
Laird: 406 innings, 28 SB, 12 CS (0.89 SBA/9 innings, 70% success)
Salty: 347 innings, 33 SB, 7 CS (1.04 SBA/9 innings, 86% success)
Max: 76 innings, 12 SB, 3 CS (1.78 SBA/9 innings, 80% success)
AL08: 12131 innings, 829-312 (0.85 SBA/9 innings, 72.66% success)

Stolen Bases
are not just on the catcher, they are also on the pitcher. I would have to see each of the 12 stolen bases for comparison, but how do we know that many of them weren’t on change-ups or slow curves? Balls in the dirt? Also, 7 of the twelve stolen bases were by Michael Bourn (2), Chone Figgins (2), Brian Roberts (2), and Brett Gardner (1), all pretty fast and pretty good base thieves.
Not saying Max Ram isn’t a bad catcher, he might just be, but the stolen base numbers you list are in a limited sample size, so when looking at them you must also look at the context they are being taken from.

yep
Well, touche. I couldn’t agree more. But it’s still a very inauspicious start.
