Shooter Hunt

Shooter finally gave up his first ER tonight but only gave up 2 hits 0 BB and 12 SO's in 6 innings.  Well he is still in the Twins Rookie League -E-Town- and should be called up soon to Class A Fort Myers or at least LowA Beloit.  I guess what I would like to know is what pitches does he through and what is the velocity of his fastball?

The Twins got a steal with him being the 31st pick of the draft.

He was a college kid from Tulane so I would think they should have started him at least in Low-A or even High-A. In any event, he is a fastball-curveball guy at this point and is trying to develop a changeup like many others who get drafted. Only gave up 62 hits in 100 innings at Tulane, so thats pretty impressive and he struck out 126. He did walk 56 though, and thats a pretty high number even for a strikeout pitcher. Love the name though, definitely pulling for him to succeed.

hunt

91-94 with the fastball and a hammer curve in the low 80’s. he has good stuff, and if he keeps throwing strikes he will be a big time steal for the twins.

i think he went the first 13 innings of his pro career without allowing a hit.

its rookie ball

he should be dominating like this. he was considered a top 15 pick in the draft for the majority of the year.

The most impressive thing about the #s is the only 2 walks, which was a major question. The bottom line is, yes, the Twins got a steal…they have developed some really solid ML pitchers as well.

He should start next year in High A in my mind.

He should

and probably will be promoted there before the season is done with. He should see AA and AAA ball next if everything goes ok. The Twins other first round pick, Carlos Guiterrez is already in High Class A Fort Myers.

One more start like this for Shooter and he should be promoted. I heard that the Twins put Hunt in Rookie ball was because they wanted him to get his stamina back from the long time off and off course he needed a rest because of the way he ended the college year.
