Cameron Maybin gets HOT!
Don't look now, but Cameron Maybin has been MASHING in AA of late.
Over his last 10 games he is hitting .417. He has 7 K's against 3 walks. He has hit 5 Home runs, 2 triples, 2 doubles. has anyone actually gotten to see him play? Is he hitting more line drives? I'm guessing most of those extra base hits weren't ground balls he beat out. His overall line for the season is up to .270/.370/.509/.880 with 13 stolen bases against 3 caught stealing. Not to mention, unless something has changed, he still plays damn good defense in CF.
So is he turning the corner as a 20 year old in AA?

I love Maybin, but...
As good as he has been the past couple days, he was equally as awful for the last month prior.

Not 20, he's 21
30% of the time he walks to the plate, he strikes out.
The 13% BB rate is good, but wow, 30% K rate?
He is starting to develop more power, but a 15% line drive rate is a bit subpar. Not “horrible”, like he has been historically, and for a 21 year old in AA, I guess it’s OK.
The 30% strike out ratio, however is atrocious.

In defense
Maybin K rates have gone down each month. He was at 33.1 in April, 29 in May and only at 15 percent so far in June. On the flip side his BB rates have gone down and his LD rates have gone up. I think he has become more aggressive which is a good thing.
