Is Edinson Volquez for real?

Looking back at this "True or False" John posted in March it appears that those going with True hit their mark, so far exceeding John's cautiously optimistic line...

However, is this sustainable?

Clearly a 1.32 ERA is not going to last forever, but there's something to be said for a guy who can limit teams to 2 or less earned runs through 12 starts in the Majors.

My thinking is that he will level off this season and end with a line something like this:

G    GS   W   L    IP      BB     K      ERA      WHIP

32   31  16   7   210   112   223   3.29      1.23

My real question though is how does he project in the future, beyond this season?  He's always had great stuff and questions have come about his command, but now it looks like he's put it all together - can he keep it together?

Re:

I’m as big of an EV fan as there is – and I was one of the folks that said true in the thread you list – but it’s really hard for me to think that he can walk as many guys as he has been (and as you predict) and be effective for the long term. Maybe he’s the next Carlos Zambrano – but it’s tough to really be considered an “ace” if you can’t be more efficient – IMO. Going forward this year, I think we’ll see more of the same (high K, high walks, good ERA). But, long term, if he doesn’t improve his control I think he’s a big injury/breakdown risk…
