Hanson at it again...
He just completed a no-hitter where he had 3 walks and 14k's. He has had two poor games in AA, but otherwise he has been outstanding all year. It will be interesting to see where he falls next spring on the prospect lists. IMO he is definitely top 40 and if continues to handle AA he could be higher than that. I would think with the possibility that Smoltz and Glavine are both done as starters he probably has a chance to make the rotation out of spring training next year.

He had a chance two starts ago
at a no hitter but it was rained out. He had a line of 4 innings and 6k’s. Yes it was a long way from a no-no but hes got to be in serious contention as a potential front end pitcher.

Turning into one of the best pitching prospects
Probably top 25 overall prospect before the year is done.

Top 25 only
if he keeps this up. Looking into his stats, besides the two aforementioned bad starts where he gave up 14 runs in 7.2 innings, he has given up 10 runs in 40+ innings.

It's amazing how he's rebounded
since his girlfriend got shot in that robbery at the convenience store and even though he had his gun on him, he didn’t react in time, and then she died, and then he just sat there and watched security tape over and over and over and timed all the things he could do in 3.3 seconds and go into a downward spiral until his friends Hooks and Penhall came and cheered him up.
Man, that was depressing.
But he’s much better now, I guess.

It was Hoffs..
not Hooks.
“122 times… but I don’t watch the whole tape. I watch 3.3 seconds. 3.3 seconds that slipped through my fingers. 3.3 seconds where I could’ve done a thousand different things. But I didn’t move. Do you know how many things you can do in 3.3 seconds? You can take off your shoes, pop a beer, and shoot someone in 3.3 seconds.”

Ok
but the whole post was written from memory. I haven’t seen the show in probably 15-20 years.

Oh, wow!
Not exactly an intimidating lineup from Birmingham, but no-hitters are rarely thrown against good teams. :-)
I thought he’d do okay in AA before “getting it” next year, but wow. If he pitches in AA like he was pitching in A-ball earlier this year… top 10 pitching prospect?

so what's the deal with birmingham
do they have any good bats? regardless, this was a dominating performance.
any chance of a sept call-up if he keeps this up and the braves need arms late in the season? or is he not close to that level yet?

It’s like Randy Johnson’s perfect game against an injury-riddled Braves team where the 4th-best hitter in the lineup was Mike Hampton. :-D
But just like that situation, it’s all about missing the bats (Johnson had 13Ks), and Hanson has sure been doing that.
