team USA coming to my part of the woods
team USa is coming to my home town for 2 exhibitons against themselves and one game against my local college summer team. Are there any players on team USA"s roster worth looking out for? I figure the elite college players will all be up in Cape Cod. I have no clue about any of these guys. I figure they must be decent to be on team USA

That looks like a who’s who of top prospects for the 2009-2010 drafts.

Keep in mind those are only invites
no one has made the team yet but usually Team USA rosters are something like a college underclassman all-star team… even though some top prospects don’t get invited for whatever reason (Alex White, Grant Green, Matt Harvey, Kyle Blair) and some guys are more good than great (Medica, Marks, den Dekker) to fill roles on the team for depth (like past Team USA guys like Brett Hayes)
To name some…
strasburg will probably go #1, certainly top couple and Gibson a few picks after him and Oliver a little after that (if he can stay in school) and Minor later in Round One.
Ackley should go in the first round despite being unconventional and a bit of a tweener.
If guys like Havens, Sogard and Flaherty are 22-70 type picks Seager should be too.
Jackson has a smooth glove and hit this year but I’m not totally sold on his future offensive potential.
Diethrich was a HS 3rd rounder and is a big SS with big power, some athleticism and a big arm and should go high in 2010.
Morris was also a high pick from HS last year and is on track to be a 2010 first rounder as a slugger.
Josh Phegley is a M-F-in stud.
PS-I think I will make either a blog entry or Diary later this week as a somewhat indepth look at 2009 and 2010 drafts if there is any interest
