Who in their right mind will trade for Rich Aurillia?

90 wins
It’s simple, all they have to do is convince MLB to go to a 320 game schedule.
Or maybe just cut all their hitters and hire 8 midgets. They would have the worst slugging percentage but their OBP would be killer!
Fielding? Lincecum doesn’t need any stinking fielding!
Impossible
Eddie Gaedel was truly ahead of his time!!!! ;)

A Book to Read
You should check out Andy Roddick Beat Me With a Tennis Racket.
It has a full chapter about the potential for a midget baseball team.
The Dodgers won't win a playoff series until the Cool-a-Coo returns.
I don't know if the Lincecum comment is sarcastic or not
so if it is, my apologies in advance, and please disregard the rest of this post (and I’m not picking on you). If it’s not, read on.
I really hate the saying “_ doesn’t need defense!” because even though it’s only semi-serious and witty, it really does perpetuate the underration of defense. His K rate is an awesome 25.1%, but that still leaves 75 percent of balls in play up to a lead defense if you neglect it. That’s an awful lot of base runners on that otherwise wouldn’t be.
The Giants are doing pretty well
all things considered. Certainly they are doing much better than a lot of Giants fans thought.
I guess it goes to show that if you have good pitching, even a below average lineup will still let you win games.

fred lewis is kinda good
....and…. bengie molina
maybe you can work out a deal with Arizona where they’ll let you fly in Micah Owings to bat cleanup on his off-days?
wow
I am shocked that they are doing this well.
I think the only way they win 90 games is if they switch out the AL interleague games with games versus AA.
Also, sign Barry Bonds and get a lot of luck too.
re
Stick Merkin Valdez in the closers role. No question he has the best stuff of any reliever they have.
Wilson’s been fine. There’s really no reason to move him out of that role.

Wilson (not the glove)
Brian Wilson’s success or failure will likely depend in great part on his control. Early last season he failed badly under the stress of horrid control. This season he so-so success has been limited by better control than last spring, but control that hasn’t been as good as when he was called up last summer.
valdez as closer?
To even have this be any value, you first have to be winning a game. They are putting up many more runs than I expected, but they really have black holes all over the field/lineup.
hm
#1: Trade Rich Aurilia for an average prospect
#3: Release Ray Durham (he has 0 trade value)You have contradicted yourself. DUCY?

#4: Avoid, at all costs, making incoherent, ungrammatical posts
on boards that are only tangentially related to the Giants.
This is what McCovey Chronicles is for. (Actually, I take that back. McCovey Chronicles is for intelligent, well-reasoned discussion of the Giants. This really doesn’t qualify.)

Shut Down Zito
It will never happen because of the money he’s owed. But the Giants should cut their losses on this season and shut him down. Worst case scenerio you have less innings of his 6.50 ERA in 2008. Best case scenario-he comes back with some velocity and value as a pitcher in 2009.
In order to win 90 games this season the Giants must ...
receive divine intervention.
Taschner's been pretty solid
And swapping a pitcher for an outfielder isn’t gonna provide any playing time for Schierholtz, so he’ll rot on the bench in San Francisco instead of playing every day in Fresno. The Giants need to play Randy Winn so he can prove he’s not terrible and has some trade value, then trade him for something, then call up Schierholtz and let him start.
And they have to hope Dave Roberts stays injured. I can’t overstate how important that is.

Randy has trade value
According to scout Shooty Babbitt, Randy has trade value. He also has a limited no-trade clause. As to why the Giants haven’t yet traded him, I haven’t a clue, unless Randy was extremely good with the teams he included his no-trades to and eliminated the teams that need him.
The Giants need to trade one San Ramon Valley High (California) graduate (Winn) in order to open up playing time for another (Schierholtz).
Zito and Lewis
Its probably now time to admit that giving Zito that contract has set the Giants organization back probably 5 years. That may very well go down as the worst contract in the history of Major League Baseball, and Sabean probably should be fired, not only for that move, but for putting together one of the worst, if not the worst, offensive teams in Giants history.
It also seems obvious that Fred Lewis should be playing every day and leading off for this team-—-I think he can become a .280, 20 HR,25SB,100 run player if given the opportunity, and right now, as of today, the Giants do not have a better long term prospect at the major league level than Lewis-—-and it would be a travesty if Roberts causes this kid to lose any playing time-— Villalona is probably 3 years away , although they will probably try to move him too quickly based on their obvious needs for a big bat!! Even with studs like Lincicum and Cain and a decent pen, IMO this is at best a 70 win team that probably finishes dead last and about 28 games behind the division winner in the west.
Pretty sad!!
79 or 90?
It’s amusing that the post began with “how to win 90 games” but finished with an “impact” of 79 wins.
