by SBcaptain2 on May 31, 2008 2:15 PM EDT up reply actions

Meyer

If someone can sign him in the real draft, the D’Backs got a steal

by UncleBuck44 on May 31, 2008 2:15 PM EDT up reply actions

...

I didn’t realize we were doing a mock draft signing

by adschofield on May 31, 2008 2:16 PM EDT up reply actions

Meyer

I couldn’t leave him off the board this late.

by Ian Stewart on May 31, 2008 2:16 PM EDT up reply actions

He wouldn't sign

He wouldn’t sign if he were drafted there, but he wass clearly the BPA, and signability isn’t a concern for this draft.

by Kevin Gengler on May 31, 2008 2:15 PM EDT up reply actions

He might if the money was right

he wouldn’t sign at slot that’s for sure

He's extremely quick and good.

by battlekow on May 31, 2008 2:16 PM EDT up reply actions

...

Unlikely to sign…not sure how you’d classify that as “robbery.”

by metafour on May 31, 2008 2:16 PM EDT up reply actions

Meyer

What if the Phillies take Meyer in the 1st round and he signs? Looks pretty good for the mock draft

by UncleBuck44 on May 31, 2008 2:18 PM EDT up reply actions

Meyer

Jim Callis indicated in his draft chat yesterday that Meyer is as unsignable as they come. He is almost a lock to go to Kentucky.

by SBcaptain2 on May 31, 2008 2:19 PM EDT up reply actions

And I don’t know why, in this mock draft, we’re ignoring things like signability. What’s the point of trying to do a realistic mock draft if we ignore realistic things like players’ signability?

by jonk1982 on May 31, 2008 2:21 PM EDT up reply actions

(Not saying ARZ was wrong to take Meyer if they wanted him—just saying that it’s silly for us in general to ignore signability and commitment concerns if we really want to have a realistic mock)

by jonk1982 on May 31, 2008 2:22 PM EDT up reply actions

Because...

We’re not actually signing the players…

by adschofield on May 31, 2008 2:18 PM EDT up reply actions

Thats great, but I think its kind of stupid to praise the selection of a guy who has nearly 0% chance of signing. Obviously this is a mock and not real life, but you have to take real facts into account.

The draft is a mess

All these posts that aren’t even related to the draft?

91 posts! That’s absurd.

I wanted Dykstra and not Ferrera. I never even got a chance to make my pick.

It’s not right.

by batonball on May 31, 2008 2:28 PM EDT reply actions

Um.

You took five minutes to make a selection. That is way too long.

If everyone posted there picks and not garbage I would have been able to make my selection as I was unable to get a post through. Duh
