take Aaron Crow RHP University of Missouri
john, is it easy to give the pick number when you say someone is on the clock?
only if it is easy
The greatest trick the White Sox ever pulled was convincing their fan base that "Ozzieball" ever existed.

Response
You’d let him play both positions?
Bystander innocently requests that Hicks’ position be declared as would be done in an actual major league draft.

He was the top guy on my board
I would have taken him at 33 had he been there
cashner
you already got one steal in matusz, did you really think you were going to get another one?

by bartonboi on May 31, 2008 1:47 PM EDT reply actions
casey kelly at 30 is pretty good
2008 - A New Era. The End of An Era.
Collier was a nice pick
I maybe should have taken him at 27, but Havens was as good a fit.
also like Matusz at 9
he slipped pretty far, i guess
2008 - A New Era. The End of An Era.

Matusz and Crow at 9 and 10 are tremendous values
Collier at 28 to the Yankees is a nice get at that place in the first round
kelly at 30
is great i also like yank’s mabbing collier at 28
by bartonboi on May 31, 2008 1:48 PM EDT reply actions
matusz
i agree. matusz at 9 is highway robbery.
i also like cashner at 29. he might be a top 10 pick.
I had a heck of a time
debating Posey/Matusz at 6, so Matusz at 9 is even better.
Same with me (Giants)
I was debating between Smoak and Hosmer beforehand and was shocked they both went in the top four.

yea
thankfully a lot of my 2nd round picks are still there 2 but pick of the round was kelly
by bartonboi on May 31, 2008 1:51 PM EDT reply actions
Response
I really like Kelly, just still debating if he’s a position player or pitcher. I think his rep might get a little hurt by that.
I can understand Castro
He doesn’t have a huge ceiling, but catchers who can hit and field don’t exactly grow on trees.

yes
but not by too much
2008 - A New Era. The End of An Era.
Tyson Ross
Yeah, I agree. I definitely think he was the biggest reach of the first.
Potentially
but I think his bat can move fast and I wanted nothing to do with Posey.
Every Giants board I visited is clamoring for a big college bat that can fly through the system, and the three names that came up most often were Alvarez, Smoak, and Alonso.
Founder of the Rowdy Hardy Fan Club
yea i hate to say it
but as an avid giants fan i was very upset with that i would have rather have them take skipworth or even Matusz

Andrew Cashner
if this were the real draft, I’d jump a hole in the ceiling to see him go to the Tribe
