Tommy John for Fautino de los Santos

San Francisco Chronicle link:
The A's did not receive such good news about 22-year-old right-hander Fautino De Los Santos. He had elbow-ligament replacement surgery this week. He hasn't pitched since April 24 at Class A Stockton.

Terrible news. The last thing he needed, especially with all the other young arms that Oakland has. He might end up getting burried.

Bryan Morris & Jarrod Parker

Speaking of injuries has anyone heard anything on either of these guys? Parker hasn’t pitched since the 20th and Morris the 18th.

I heard Tim Lincecum will win 1 Cy Young & 11 Tim Lincecums. Question is, how many Cole Hamels will he win?

I Don't Know About Parker, But Morris...

Was placed on the Ogden roster for some reason. In none of the articles did they mention why, and I found it odd since he was coming off a good start. I haven’t checked lately, so maybe there is a reason given now. Hopefully it is just meant to limit his innings while giving someone else some, and nothing to do with an injury.

Well

It’s not the end of the world. I wonder if the A’s will try to get him ready for next year or consider it two lost seasons…anyone know?

devo at AN hypothesized

that the A’s would probably bring him back in the bullpen the second half of next year and/or winter ball, and then reevaluate whether to move him back into starting duties.

Makes sense to me.
