Unbelievable

I'm sorry, but need the help here

Star-divide

1 year re-draft h2h 10 team

I get: Erik Bedard
I give: Javier Vazquez and Evan Longoria

There are some pretty good FA's available, including Gordon, Garza, Buchholz, and Konerko.

What does everyone think? Basically, what is Bedard going to do from here out?

My squad:

C - Soto
1B - Teixeira
2B - Roberts
3B - Wright
SS - Guillen
OF - Holliday
OF - Hamilton
OF - Abreu
UT - Pence

BN - Burrell, Kemp, Bruce, Longoria

SP - Peavy, Sabathia, Lackey, Vazquez, Billingsley, McGowan, Jurrjens, Pedro
RP - Nathan, Saito, B. Wilson

DL - Tulowitzki

Well if you have Wright

and you can just replace Longoria with Gordon, then it’s basically if you like Vazquez or Bedard more. I think Bedard is better, so I would do it. You should also find a way to pick up Garza, he is the real deal. Wait, how are Gordon and Garza free agents lol?

I may be mistaken, but it looks like it’s not a keeper league and only 10 teams, so it’s not too surprising. Gordon maybe should be owned, but he really is probably around the 10th – 15th best 3B at this point.

eh...

Not really, Alex Gordon is statistically one of the better 3B in the MLB…He’s got like a .290 BA, 5 HR’s, 30 RBI’s

Which of the following?

Here is a list of guys that have 3B eligibility that I would take over Gordon right now(in a non-keeper league).

The Obvious:
Chipper
David Wright
Kevin Youkilis
Ryan Braun
Aramis Ramirez
Miguel Cabrera
Garrett Atkins

He isnt really close to any of those guys…So at best he is 8th. The guy is desribing a H2H league and thus K’s might hurt him and so Gordon’s 49 strikeouts would be really bad. Based on my leagues point system Gordon is 23rd in 3B points…To me he has been one of the bigger dissapointments of the last 2 years.

Not to Mention A-Rod

Carlos Guillen and a few others…

Gordon has been approximately the 20th best 3B in my league so far….

Would would strikeouts in a H2H hurt any more or less than they would in a Roto league?

Yes

Many H2H leagues subtract points for strikeouts. Whereas in roto leagues, strikeouts are no different than groundouts or flyouts.

Hmm..

It seems I jumped the gun a bit, but to say he’s been one of the bigger disappointments is a bit of a strech…He’s still developing as a player, and I expect to really take off as a player next year.

Thanks for proving my point. tt68 already touched on this, but I’ll add a little more. With the stats you’ve given, here are his ranks in Yahoo among all 3rd baseman:

BA: 15th (with a min of 100 ABs)
HR: 25th
RBI: 27th (he actually has 21 RBIs, not 30 although maybe you meant runs)

For the hell of it, some other categories:

R: 8th
SB: 21st
OBP: 15th (with a min of 100 ABs)
SLG: 24th (with a min of 100 ABs)

So really, he’s only above average in runs, which is most likely pretty fluky anyways given the Royals atrocious offense.

I wouldn't do that.

I just don’t have faith Bedard is suddenly going to come on and be much better than Vazquez. If it was me I’d try to package those two or others (such as Bruce) for a real upgrade at some spot. There appears to be plenty of fodder on the waiver wire to find replacements if you deal multiple players for one.
