Cole Rohrbough
Cole had a great debut on Monday night. He went four innings in relief allowing three hits and striking out six while walking none. He also had a 5:1 groundout to flyout ratio. What is even more impressive is that of the last six batters he faced, he struck out five. Of the three hits he gave up, one was a bunt hit and two were dribblers through the infield. Anybody have an opinion on how good he can be?

Really good...
He’s probably the 2nd best pitching prospect in the Braves’ system (behind Tommy Hanson). Rohrbough definitely has good stuff, a fastball that reaches 95 mph, a plus curveball, and some deception in his delivery. I think that if he can avoid further arm issues, he can possibly become a #2 starter (ceiling), but most likely a solid middle of the rotation guy. I love his sick K rates.
Now raise your goblet of rock. It's a toast to those who rock!
Locke
I would actually take Locke over both. I know that might not be an unpopular opinion but he’s got a 95 mph fastball, good control, and good groundball tendencies.
I don't know...
Locke hasn’t shown that great of control in A. His control in Danville was great, but it’s more than doubled at Rome. (Obviously, small sample though.)
Another thing that worries me a bit about Locke, is that his BABIP has been pretty high in his career. (Again, not a big concern, and it’s debatable if that’s even something he can control.)
He does have a 3.79 GB-FB ratio in A (according to minorleaguesplits), which is outstanding. (BTW, which stat do you guys like more in evaluating GB tendencies? Firstinning’s GB%, milb’s GO/AO, or the GB/FB that you can calulate from GB and FB numbers.)
Personally, I’d rate them…Rohrbough, Hanson, and Locke. Although, I don’t really like Hanson particulary much, mainly because I dislike extreme flyball pitchers. Hopefully Teheran can come in and dominate.
