Steven Hill

I took a flyer on STL 1b prospect Steven Hill late in my sim draft last year.

This guy mashed in college and killed the ball in his pro debut last year. This year he's again killing the ball, going 333/376/595 between High A and AA ball. He's a little old but he's probably about where you'd expect a 2nd year pro from a smaller college. He's hit for both high average and high power through but has lost some of his plate discipline as a pro. I did notice he's only 5-11, 190, kinda small for a corner IF masher.

My question is, does anyone know anything about this guy? He didn't make BA's Cards list at all last year and just barely made John's at 20. Never hear his name mentioned. Is this guy a prospect? Suspect? Somewhere in between?

Anomalous BABIP last year, given LD rate. And this year, at least early on when I checked.

But, perhaps this is the kind of thing that is sustainable because of how he hits? The reports back from people that have seen him in games say his stickwork appears legit, not just the result of unusually good luck.

He gets some good mention over at the Future Redbirds site if you want to get more analysis.
