2008 Mock Draft Scouting Director Assignments
Scouting Director Assignments
If you want to be a scouting director, ask in the comment thread. I will update the main thread to indicate who each director is. Once you see your name on the list, please start a Mock Organization Diary, titled MOD: Cardinals or MOD: Giants or whatever your team is.
Remember, you MUST be available for the Mock Draft on Saturday, May 31st, at 12:00 PM central time.
Duties of the Scouting Director include managing the conversation in the MOD Diary threads. This is a collaborative effort. I don't want you to run your threads like a dictator, but approach it like you are really a scouting director and the other participants are your scouts, farm analysts, etc. Each scouting director should have a deputy to run the draft if the SD has to step away or cancel at the last minute.

I’d like to Volunteer for the Giants job, if there’s no objections.

Houston Astros
I would like to turn this franchise around please. Thank you.
Now raise your goblet of rock. It's a toast to those who rock!
Atlanta
Could I do the Atlanta Braves, who I drafted for last year?
If you are trying to mix things up my 2nd choice would be Milwaukee.
Thank you!
Asked in another thread
but if you still need a deputy, I would love to help out.
Tampa Bay
may I take the Rays?

Hm..
Our scouting director(Tampa Bay’s) is named goyankees.

This is ridiculous
There are about 10 diehard Rays fans on this board, and a Yankees fan will be running the Rays draft because the Yanks were already taken?
Vogt early, Vogt often.
if i may suggest
once all/most of the MODs are posted that the links to them be collected into one fanpost and then that fanpost receive sufficient recommendations or whatever so that it sticks to the top.
Mets?
Mets are my team, though I wouldn’t mind taking any of them.
If you want the Mets
I will gladly serve as your deputy. I have something that evening which is why I can’t be the scouting director
I'm in
I’d prefer the Mets, Padres would be my 2nd choice, but I’ll take any.
I did this once before when the guy who was supposed to do the Nats didn’t show in 2006.
Royals...
That said, there’s a slight chance I may not be available that day.
So if any other KC fan wants to be a 2nd in command, that would be excellent.
Rowdy Hardy Fan Club member.

volunteer. Let me know if I’m needed. I’ll be in on discussions.

deputy
The greatest trick the White Sox ever pulled was convincing their fan base that "Ozzieball" ever existed.
Oakland
Since Kansas City and Baltimore are taken, I’m guessing we go Oakland. Us, being adschofield and myself, if that’s OK.

I would like to take a crack at the Reds.

Seattle Mariners
I live in Seattle,...I did the D’Backs last year so I’m experienced…I work well with others… and cant do worse than Mr. Bavasi i wouldn’t think…. Hire me.
I’d like some of this site’s est and brightest to help me out if they are so inclined. NMS: be my college scouting director? Mr. Kupe: Top talent evaluator at big league level? Wily Mo? Where ya at? BJB? Your unique perspective is always welcome.
Seriously, ANYBODY with good thoughts on what the Seattle Mariners should. would do with picks 20, 66, 98 etc… let me know. I’ll be posting the first of a few Seattle MOD’s by tomorrow and probably tonight.
5
we go DEEP….all the way to the 5th round.

marlins?
i don’t think anyone has taken the marlins, so i’d like them. one of my good friends covers the team for the local paper, so i have at least one source.
:(
Man I was planning on taking a team (would have loved the Brewers with all those picks) but I can’t make it on Saturday. If it were Sunday, I could have been here but I’ll be working a soccer game pretty much all day. :( Very disapointing but I hope everyone has a great time!
Milwaukee
I would like to take the Brewers if they are still available, I had a good time with this last year and am looking forward to being able to select before round 3 this year, lol
Arizona
I’ll take them.
Thanks a lot! Should be a fun time.

Red Sox
As a die hard Sox fan, I would love to run the Sox draft.
Finding MODs
Is there a possibility of creating a easy to find repository of all the MODs so as to avoid the Fanpost clutter and make it easy to access your own?
In other news, this is already quite a bit of fun!

Can't do Saturday
that’s reserved for dates with my wife :)

I would love Cleveland
just so you know
Relax, all right? Don't try to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.
Crash Davis
Cleveland or Colorado
makes no difference which team is available, I’d just like to be involoved.
Deputy
Id be interesting in helping as a Deputy SD to a team. Let me know if youre interested.
No MOD
I know for a fact that the Nationals still have n MOD – what is the backup plan for a team that doesn’t show for the draft?
by ofsticksandbats on May 16, 2008 8:53 AM EDT reply actions
I'm willing to take on the Nationals
if the need arises
