maybe 2016

I don't think it all likely that Beckham and Moustakas would be starting an all-star game in just five years (ditto above with Triunfel). I expect they'd be in the majors and they will start all-star games someday, but not as early as 2013.

Well

Technically, we're talking allstars here. So the rosters should be full of aging veterans with their best days behind them. :D

Maybe Jeter at short for one last hurrah?

I like this one...

The only think I would do is move Weiters to C, go figure based on what others are writing. But if his big frame moves him out of the crouch and onto 1b, Conger would make sense.

2013 All-Star Lineups:

AL:

C- Wieters
1B- Pedro Alvarez (Among pros, I'd guess Jeff Clement)
2B- Pedroia
SS- Asdrubal Cabrera
3B- M-Cab
OF- Markakis (or Adam Jones)
OF- Hanley Ramirez (Yankees)
OF- Sizemore
DH- Butler

NL:

C- Martin
1B- Prince
2B- Jemile Weeks (among pros, I'd take Rickie)
SS- Tulowitzki
3B- Wright
OF- Francoeur
OF- Chris Young
OF- Justin Upton

These are absurd

Have you guys forgotten? At least 4 members of the starting AL team must either play for the Sox or the Yanks. So unless a bunch of these guys are getting signed or traded to NY or Boston, I find the AL lineups ridiculous.

by mraver on Apr 8, 2008 11:35 AM EDT reply actions

maybe i should have specified...

I have BOSSMAN and Morneau on the Yanks in 2013... and Chris Nelson playing 2B for the Sox [as pedroia moves into a super-ute role for boston]

Surprised

Nobody thinks A-Rod could still be an all-star? By my calculation he'll be 37.

by BlackOps on Apr 8, 2008 1:00 PM EDT reply actions

And......

On the verge of breaking the home run record in 2014. Short of injuries, at that all-star break, he will probably be sitting on about 760 HR's. He may be at 1B by then as an all-star at this 3rd position.

by slickwdb on Apr 8, 2008 1:20 PM EDT up reply actions

Maybe

There's still a lot of bench roles on these teams. But he might not make it on to the starting lineup.

by David Tokarz on Apr 8, 2008 1:21 PM EDT up reply actions

i think Arod will still be an All-Star...just not a starter...

...Gordon is a charmer... men and women love him.... and I think Morneau will be at 1B for NYY, so maybe Arod is DH at that time...

by daveh33 on Apr 8, 2008 1:53 PM EDT up reply actions

To think

That only prospects or 1st year players are going to be the all-star roster is silly.

Utley is going to implode by then? Alex Rios will be about 32 as will Brandon Phillips. Pujols will be about 33, Khalil Greene will be 34.

For pitchers - Peavy, Webb, Jerod Weaver, Johan and Hamels will all be between 30-34. None of them will be dominating in 5 years?

A lot of these projected line-ups include guys who can make the all-star teams but my bet will be that a lot of the guys who were first timers last year and this year on the all-start team will be the people starting in 2013.

by slickwdb on Apr 8, 2008 1:28 PM EDT reply actions

No doubt...

AL:
C - Wieters (Mauer is a 1B or OF)
1B - Prince (the newest Yankee/Red Sox)
2B - Kendrick (dueling Barton for the batting title at .385)
SS - Jeter (just hit 3000 and is contemplating retirement)
3B - Gordon
OF - Miguel Cabrera
OF - Sizemore
OF - BJ Upton
SP - Joba

NL:
C - Towles
1B - Prince
2B - Phillips
SS - Tulowitzki
3B - Wright
OF - Upton the younger
OF - Ryan Braun
OF - Corey Hart
SP - Peavy

in 5 years Prince will be so fat

that he needs both leagues just to play

by daveh33 on Apr 8, 2008 1:55 PM EDT up reply actions

Nah

As an herbivore, he will have no trouble maintaining a healthy body weight of around 275.
