Cueto or Billingsley?

I am in a keeper league and I have a chance to keep either Chad Billingsley or Johnny Cueto.  After his performance yesterday I am thinking about going with Cueto.  What do you think I should do?  Am I placing too much emphasis on one start and not enough on Billingsley's record of success?  I am optimistic about both their futures but I worry about Cueto's HR allowed and Billingsley's command.  Who would you go with this year only?  Who would you go with for the long term?  Thanks!!!

Billingsley

Based on pedigree & performance.

I heard Tim Lincecum will win 1 Cy Young & 11 Tim Lincecums. Question is, how many Cole Hamels will he win?

Billz

and Billz.

The Giants need to sign Harry Doyle.

One Game...

Cueto had a great game but remember that it is just ONE GAME. Billz showed what he could do over a full season last year and the results were great for the young hurler. I like Cueto but Billz looks to be a much safer bet and in a much better pitching environment.

Cueto or Obama?

not sure who Im going with at this point... I assume Gammons is backing Cueto, and that's a good endorsement right there

Cueto

But then again, I've always been lower on Billingsley than just about everyone else here.

Vogt early, Vogt often.

BTW

This is the kind of question that just begs to have a poll.

Billingsley

better stuff, much better home park and it doesn't hurt that he also gets to pitch on the road in Petco and San Fran.

Bills

Cueto might do it, Billingsley has done it. That's pretty much it, esp in fantasy baseball AND Cueto pitches in a shit ballpark for pitchers. How good is Aaron Harang and he can barely get his ERA under 4.

I'm looking for a few knowledgeable fans who'd like to join me on Baseball Mastermind, whether you're a scout, a sabermetrician, a journalist or just a die-hard fan. Sign up for an account on BM today.

I don't see how it's that close

Cueto has always outpitched his projections. If Cueto turns out like Billingsley has shown so far, he'd be a huge disappointment. Cueto in a landslide here.

hmm

So a career 129 ERA+ entering his age 23 season would be a "huge disappointment."

I didn't realize Cueto was projected to be the next Pedro Martinez or something.

I've been an avid Cueto fan since his days with the Dayton Dragons and he's been nothing but consistent so far in his career. Billingsley is definitely no slouch, but I think the two will have fairly similar careers, Cueto's command for his age is impressive however.

Billingsley all the way.

Look at his track record
