Volstad, Tucker, and Thompson
I know Volstad gets some talk, but I personally believe these three pitchers are three of the most underrated pitching prospects. Tucker and Thompson never get much talk and Volstad gets nothing but ripped everywhere I read. But here they are sneaking up on everyone this year.
Volstad: 2-0 2.90 31 IP 21/10 K/BB 3.35 GO/AO!
Tucker: 1-1 1.30 27.2 IP 27/9 K/BB
Thompson: 0-2 2.84 25.1 IP 16/16 K/BB 2.93 GO/AO
These guys are really starting to show their potential from when the marlins took them in the first round. I personally was never really high on Tucker, but he has really suprised me this year. I also have not included West who has the most potential of all of them just that hes battling an injury.

Thompson
A little dissapointed in the walks, but gotta love the groundballs. He’ll never be a strikeout pitcher, but can be a really good back of the rotation starter.
Tucker
Of those three, Tucker has the best stuff by a mile, but his performance hasn’t always lived up to his potential. Seeing as he’s also go the best line so far this year, it seems to me that his star is definitely shining the brightest at the moment.
Thompson
Thompson used to have much better stuff before his injuries (torn labrum). He has had to learn how to be more of a pitcher while his stuff returns and if it does return, he could be a big surprise. I’ve been kind of quietly asking about him for a couple years now since I inherited him in a sim league and have been pleasantly surprised by his reemergence so far. I was really surprised BA left him off their top 30 this year. I know their system drastically improved but I don’t think they hae 30 prospects better then he is.
Thompson
We talking Aaron Thompson here? He was #9 in BA and has no labrum history.
Sorry I should have clarified
Aaron Thompson, Chris Volstad, and Ryan Tucker.
And yes I agree Tucker has the best stuff, and from what I read last year they had him working on his secondary pitches a ton last year which may have contributed to his bad numbers and the turnaround to this year.
Winters
It might be time to add fellow draftee Kyle Winters to this Marlin arm conversation. Drafted in 05 out of high school (just turned 21 last week) , here are his numbers this year in A+
3-0, 29.1 IP, 5 BB, 16 K,
1.23 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, .212 BAA, 2.27 GO/AO
Yea winters is another one
I like him a lot. He seems like a Volstad light. Ive been keeping my eye on him and am very impressed.
and then
there’s always Jeff Allison: 0-4, 2.38era, 22.2ip, 18h 6er 1hr 11bb 15k .214baa
