McCutch
Has he answered his critics yet? His numbers so far might not jump off the page, but the kid is 21 years old and playing in AAA. He's improved his K/BB ratio significantly and right now he has no protection thanks to Walker's dismal season. I'm going out on a limb here and saying he is the #1 lead-off hitter prospect in baseball. Any thoughts?
ONLY FIVE MORE WORDS TO PUBLISH...phew.

This guy has always reminded me of a Marquis Grissom type from the mid 1990s Expos teams. If he can fulfill that role then the Pirates will be set with a great CF for years to come.

It’s very encouraging to see how his power has really stepped up early this year. His BB rate is solid, not great, but he’s also done a good job of making more contact.
However, he’s going to need to improve against RHP before he really steps up to the next level. I’ve read many reports where he chases a lot of bad pitches down and away against RHP, and his numbers bear that out. Once he gets more selective, the sky is the limit with this guy.

I'm genuinely surprised
I was never his biggest fan but he seems to have made some significant improvements, albeit with all the traditional caveats (less than 100 ABs and so forth)

as long as we’re overreacting to small sample sizes. Nate McLouth rules too, I don’t want to see him out of a job.

Were people actually
seriously doubting him because he didn’t put up a silly high OPS in AA at 19 or 20.
Thats nuts.
Some folks just look to see who has the prettiest stat line and don’t think about a damn other thing

He’s right up there in the Rasmus/Maybin/Gomez class of CF prospects.
