Adam Lind

1-1 as a PH and LF. Now hitting .365 with great peripherals.

En route to Toronto? I’d put the over/under at Saturday.

LaPorta

I think you really have to be encouraged by him. He’s walking more, striking out less, and still showing a great bat at AA. That’s pretty impressive…

Stewart

The Rockies need to call up Stewart.

for 2B?

The guy is hot right now, but where do you put him if he comes up?

brad nelson

i still like him…. sometimes i just cant let it die… but he hit 2 jacks tonight… the Brewers really have some mashers on the farm…. Nelson and LaPorta played like men among boys tonight… unreal.

Indians

Two AAA pitchers will be getting big league starts for the Indians over the next few days. Jeremy Sowers is getting called up to start Saturday against the Yanks. Aaron Laffey will then get called up on Monday against the Yanks.

Laffey got the short start in Buffalo last night to prep himself. 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 K, 0 BB as the Bisons lost 3-1.

Akron notables:
Josh Rodriguez: 3-5, 1 RBI
Mike Aubrey: 2-4, 2 2B
Wes Hodges: 1-5, 1 RBI
Matt Whitney: 1-5, 1 RBI

Kinston notables:
John Drennan: 1-4, 1 RBI
Beau Mills: 2-5, 2B, 1 RBI
Jared Goedert: 3-5, 2B, 2 RBI
Nick Weglarz: 1-4

Lake County notables:
Ryan Miller: 6 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 6 K. (Season line: 4-0, 0.82 ERA, 22 IP, 14 H, 8 BB, 23 K)
Matthew Brown: 2-3, 2B, 2 RBI
Chris Nash: 1-4, HR, 2 RBI

Also, the Indians completed their offseason trade for Jamey Carroll by sending AAA P Sean Smith to Colorado. That price seems a little high for a utility guy, IMO.

ER for Hanson?!

Weak! And not even a K per IP….

Seriously, though, what a great start this kid is off to! Nice to see they’re stretching him out a bit. The GO/AO ratio is still very, very low (5/9 yesterday), but to be honest that doesn’t concern me. If he starts giving up HRs in droves once he hits AA, then it’ll be an issue, but until then, no biggie.

is sean doolittle legit?

apparently his 1b defense is already great, questions about his power have been answered. he’s also playing some OF too. i wasnt a fan of the pick at draft time, but he’s dominating high A. A’s might have an interesting decision in a few yrs w/ barton/doolottle/carter at 1b/DH

No

Questions about power have not been answered. Hitting home runs in the California League doesn’t mean much.

brandon hicks

ooops…posted this on last night’s thread. just back to the site after its downtime.

but, worth repeating, brandon hicks seems to be showing a lot of promise, as i posted on the wrong night’s thread:

2nd homer in 2 nights, and overall 2-3 (also a double) and a walk. OPS now over 1000 and supposedly plays a solid SS.
