Steve Pearce - Callup soon?

Steve Pearce -- Is there any chance he sees Pittsburgh this summer?  Is a Nady trade the only way he sees PNC without an injury?  I know he came out of nowhere to go to the Futures Game, but he's had a slow start to the season ... Indy has not been kind to date.  Anyone have any insight on when he's due?  Or even if his bat is ready?  Just want to see what everyone thinks ...

I think

He’s a better player than Nady right now myself. Sometimes when a player knows he shouls have made the big club’s roster….based on talent purely… they stink in AAA for a bit. He hit 2 homers the other night, I wouldn’t worry. He’ll hit his way up there in a month or two.

Pearce

There are any number of scenarios involving trades or injuries to Nady, LaRoche, or Bay that might lead to Pearce being called up, but the fact of the matter is, right now he is not getting it done in Indy, and he belongs where he is.
The 2 homers he has hit to date, were hit on the same night, and overall he is only hitting .240, with a .298 OBP.
Most rational gm’s and teams would keep him down on the farm until he rectifies his issues, but you’re talking about the Pirates here so all bets are off. Expect the unthinkable with the Bucs…They’ll never disappoint you.

PECOTA vs. Expectations

PECOTA has him tagged at .263-16-65-8 with roughly 500 PA. How do people feel about those numbers? High … Low …

decent

thats a decent rookie year that I would be happy with as a Pearce owner.

Carlos Quentin's time has arrived.

They are probably in the ball park imo...

Slightly lower BA, slightly higher number of dingers and swipes.

He’s a smaller guy than you would envision, but his skill level make him serviceable at the major league level. It’s just a matter of time.

I’m betting he will be up after 6-1-08.
